But didn't the HTC Vivid get Sense 4.0 with their ICS update a few days ago?! Why would they not put Sense 4.0 into our phones update as well?

No, unfortunately the HTC Vivid received Sense 3.6 just like the HTC Sensation before it. We can only guess that we are likely to follow the same track until we get official info from Sprint.

You must be confusing Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich. Which is an easy mistake to make when everything has a revision number. I think we need more revision numbers, and some useless acronyms for good measure :D

lol true there is too many versions of everything going around right now, but I wasn't confused...this was the last article about it I saw, and it said the Vivid was getting Sense 4.0, but I just never checked the actual release information when they finally did get it lol

Did the Vivid have Beats before the update?

Never mind I found the answer. I guess they did not have it. Wonder if we can get it as well.

We will. It's just a software enhancement though, and one only noticed when you have headphones plugged into. I am curious on how much better it does sound compared to the SRS the phone already has, considering good sound comes from good hardware. Guess we'll just see!

It makes a noticeable difference. Not a huge difference, but you can hear it. There are a number of ROMs for the Evo 3D that include Beats.

I enjoyed this recent article from Tiger Beat*ahem, I mean* VentureBeat.com :D

I'm not very familiar with them as a source so don't forget to keep your head screwed on straight, but as expected things sound pretty good post Ice Cream Sandwich.

Ice Cream Sandwich: Android 4.0 & HTC Vivid performance | VentureBeat

Overall it sounds like a better Web and browsing experience, a slight up-tick in processing power, and a tad better battery endurance.

Don't 'go all in' for Benchmark stats or writers boastings, and always remember results WILL vary.

Any improvement over the current battery usage will be greatly appreciated. I mean Android needs to kick the individual carriers out of their software and make it so all versions are vanilla and let us decide what apps we want and leave it at that so everything is universal for app developers to work on. Hardware manufacturers need to make their good to meet Androids OS. God if we only lived in a perfect world.....

I'm thinking we might get it a lot sooner than June...HTC and ICS are already proved to work together with the release on the Vivid...So I'm sure Sprint has a version of it as well, so once they get all their Sprint crap incorporated into it, it should be released with no problems...I'm thinking the only reason we still haven't gotten it has to be something with making ICS, and Sense 3.6 work with the 3D functions, if that is even an issue...or its just being held up for business reasons

3D functions is only a part of it. Don't forget WiMAX. If the rooting community, specifically the AOSP ROMs for the Evo 3D are any indication, those two features are not something you can just whip up. Considering all of the articles I've seen that say ICS was pretty much a complete rebuild for phones, I wouldn't be surprised if Sprint/HTC wanted to take their time and give everything some long testing times to make sure everything is good.

So I'd be surprised if the roll out for the update happened before May. June would be the high end of that expectation time. If it happens sooner, awesome, but I'm not counting on it.

Thats true...forgot about WiMAX...seeing how the only two phones in the U.S. with 4.0 are LTE phones...thats gunna be something they have to work on. I would think mid/late April-mid May sounds about right

That also assumes that they are working on the GSM version before or concurrent with the CDMA version. Or it could be that the 3D driver is what really is holding everything back. Or the Evo 3D, in general, isn't as high of a priority as other devices, like the Vivid and the Sensation. I'm assuming there are a lot of variables to which device gets updated, and when. Most of which we don't have any solid info on. So we're all just guessing, really.

Not worried about WiMax, thinking of trading in the HTC EVO 3D for the HTC One if/when it gets here. I'd like some LTE on my plate as I can't get WiMax anyways. It'd be nice to pay for a service I can use :/

According to the "new upcoming" phone list for Sprint, the HTC EVO ONE(LTE) is listed for a June 6th release date...and I believe the old EVO4G got its software update around the time the EVO3D was released...so just basing it off that, the ICS update should come around that time, if not before that (hoping)...but like said before...who knows
