this morning my long awaited samsung galaxy tab P6800 arrived, so excited opened the box and started installing, then I thought something was wrong with my eyes as I could not read the text!! been into all the settings and there is no way of making the font size bigger, cant understand this as my sister has the galaxy note also with the same scherm and you can read everything perfect. I phoned samsung they are fully aware of this problem and suggested I buy a pair of reading glasses, little do they know I already wear them! I have applied the app. Bigfont but this doesnt do anything to the emails or to browser text. anyone know anything else I can try, otherwise its going back to the store.

I wonder if it's due to the high resolution on a relatively small screen? I'm waiting for the LTE version, but this concerns me as I wear reading glasses too. But I thought you could adjust font size on the typical Android email app. I did that with my Galaxy Nexus.

no you cant adjust the font in this tab, only the letter typ. There are many forums out there discussing this very big problem of samsung Increase font size for P6200? - The Galaxy Tab Forum the new p6200 has this problem also. They hope it will be fixed with the ICS update, but I wont wait for that, I have just sent mine back. Very disappointing to say the lease stupid thing is the Galaxy note has the same screen resolution, but you can read everything really fine on that.

I honestly dont find the font on the Tab7.7 too small but its all about perception anyway, if your comparing it to the galaxy note then the note will have a better font rendering due to a better PPI.

I find some issues with the Galaxy Tab7.7's font but its not about the size, its something I really cant put into words.

Well I have now sent it back, many of my friends looked at it and said exactly the same thing just too small font, cant read emails or web pages. Maybe this will be solved with ICS but didnt want to risk it. Now waiting for the samsung galaxy tab 2, this is just a refurbished version of the original 7inch P1000 which I have and love.

Earl, any idea why the reviews on the 7.7 never mentioned this? I've read a number of the online reviews (some o which went into tons of detail) and never saw them comment on this. Weird.

You also said in your prior post that you didn't find it too small. Any reason for your change?

Reviews almost always never cover something negative for very obvious reasons.

The change in my opinion came with extended usage of the device, there are some times that websites cant read properly w/o zooming in this making the fonts so tiny and with the PPI its a bit pixelated. Though I dont find the fonts on the Galaxy Note small infact they are very legible at the same zoomed out level.

I have spoken to loads of people who have sent their tabs back to stores, all because of the same reason "font far too small" even people who had used app. Big Font, at 130% as this doesnt change the size of the font on the web or email. Samsung havent even got the ICS to work on it properly because of the amoloidscherm. and yet at the beurs in Barcelona they are getting really excited about yet another tab that will be coming out in april!!! they havent solved the problems with their 7 plus or the 7.7 so they bring another tab out. Thats not nice to the customer who have already bought these tabs. Updates, dont hold your breath. Cut your loses and buy another from another brand.

Also there is something about the font rendering on the Tab7.7 which I cannot put words into it, its not bad but something just looks/feels wrong even compared to the Galaxy S2's font rendering.

Another thing which bugs is that a lot of screen's Ive seen show a very noticeable brightness difference from top to bottom or left to right.. mostly visible in landscape mode and when displaying light colors on the screen or animated films.

May I be so rude as to ask you how old you are, maybe you have 100% eyesite, because believe me the font is really small.

Over 50 with reading glasses. :)

I really don't find much of an issue with most apps and virtually all websites. Since websites can be sized, the font is totally irrelevant to me. In one case, a forum I typically visit had fonts that were too small, even at the largest font setting of that app. So my solution was easy, I simply bookmarked the website for that app where I could simply resize the font to anything I like. I no longer use that app and just go directly to the website.

BTW, the screen on this thing is simply amazing. Videos are nothing short of amazing. :)

im 57 and use reading glasses too..
I use Big Font set at 140 and Mozilia Firefox browser.(bigger font pluggin too)
Browsing can be pinch and zoomed... double tap and rotate.. I dont even use the reading glasses mostly..
The stock email app...
when reading emails.. pinch and zoom.. mine does with ease and wraps the text too no problem...
all this works for me just fine...

Id like to get the TAB 2 when it comes out as it may fit in my pocket a bit easier, but that means Id have to sell this 7.7..
good luck

Galaxy Tab 2 is coming out soon in 7" & 10.1" sizes...no 7.7. Some think it's actually a bit of a downgrade from the current tabs. Samsung is looking to put out cheaper tablets.

I seriously hope not, the 7.7 is without any doubt is the best tablet on the market today. I was initially hesitant to drop the $$$ on the 7.7 over the upcoming iPad -3; functionality is off the scale compared to the iPad, display is simply phenomenal, form factor perfect, build quality is equally superb, this is what all tablets should be like

Samsung need to keep the 7.7 as a premium tablet, a showcase of technical prowess, I for one would have no reservations in ordering a second generation 7.7, flood the market with cheap Tab`s by all means, just keep the 7.7 to show what Samsung can achieve. Many of my colleagues are now using the iPad as a secondary device, when they see the 7.7 it starts with curiosity, humour, amazement, then a need; the 7.7 has to be classified as one of the very best mobile devices ever produced...
