Sony Mobile discusses the pros and cons of upgrading to ICS | Xperia Blog

Learn about the technical differences between Gingerbread and ICS [Updated] — Developer World

I do not own the Xperia Ray. I am just doing some research and considering getting one (Telus is offering it free on 3 year plan without data). I thought I would share the two articles I found above. FYI, my current phone LG Shine Plus had an upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3 about six months ago which failed miserably. Many phones were bricked, the 2.3 update was pulled and I had to get a warranty replacement phone with the old OS. You can read about it in the Shine Plus forum. Anyways, it is tempting to get the Ray with the promise of an eventual ICS upgrade (there is no guarantee that some of the other new phones will get this update). However, it may be adviseable to see how it shakes out before you upgrade.

I was dissappointed by this article.
Sony's honesty is much appreciated, but it is hard to miss the undertone here. I feel they have made me happy with a dead sparrow.

What I would love for Sony to do now is to make a GB update with some of the most wanted features of ICS. (Slicker theme, improved task management, delete bloatware)
