Can someone PLEASE demo Sense 2.1's BROWSER!

So I was looking around everywhere, watching all of the few youtube videos that have been popping up showing eris with the 2.1 Sense. But NONE of them demo the browser! One of the biggest thing I am looking forward to is the new Sense's browser performance.

So can someone record a video demo-ing the browser? In particular, I would like to see how much the MULTITOUCH (pinch-zoom) has improved from the 1.5 Sense, that is one of my biggest concerns. I would really appreciate it.

It's hard for me to know what's different because I had been using Dolphin for a few months. However, I like the new Sense browser. I like how the address bar is stuck to the top of the page and you have to scroll all the way up to see it. Reminds me of something I saw on a demo vid for Mozilla Fennec.

Really, the Dolphin browser was too bloated and busy. I'll stick with Sense for awhile.

It's a lot of little differences. The status bar is easily accessible now, whenever you are loading a page or typing a web address it is visible. Not a huge difference, but a bit snappier in browsing and throughout the settings. I'm enjoying the 2.1 experience.

I agree with your consensus on the video. I think they put the wrong keyboard for default searching in the browser. It does no good with out the space bar in there.

You can still use the spacebar when you search in browser. You have to switch to numer screen (press 12#).

Oh yes on the full qwerty it does. But I use the compact qwerty and there is no spacebar.

This is purely anecdotal evidence, but whatever, I think it's valid.

My girlfriend had used my phone a few times when I had 1.5 and the stock browser to look something up online and had commented more than once about how the experience was "technically the internet, but annoying." She didn't like how slow it seemed to go and that the browser sometimes felt like it was working against you. After I installed the 2.1 update I didn't tell her right away and let her use my phone again to look something up online. Within a minute or so of using the new browser she actually said something along the lines of, "wow, this seems like it's working a lot better now, did you do something differently?"

SO, having said that, the changes might be small and seemingly insignificant on paper but make for a much more satisfying web browsing experience in every day use.

I found something in another thread. If you press the search button a second time, the normal keyboard should come up with spacebar.

IMO the pinch to zoom in the browser sucks for 2.1.

And since we got a new browswe is there any need for dolphin? What are the benifits of using dolphin?

I for one have never used dolphin browser. I saw no need to. One advantage it had for Moto droid users was pinch to zoom, but we have that stock in Eris. IMO there was no need to try it, because the stock browser always worked fine for me. But for me personally, I dont like running duplicate apps (I'm a little OCD). If I already have an app that does the job, why download another.

i never used the new one, i installed dolphin as soon as it booted up 2.1

The benefit I see of Dolphin is that you can store the cache on the SD card, also I think it is easier to navigate the tabs.

Seriously though, I'm surprised that not many people on this board are using xScope.
I have been using it for a week now, and I really like it.

ETA: I just remembered it is 2.0+ only.
