also interested in the next big phone. I no longer work for verizon, but I have another upgrade to waste. using my nexus daily also have rezound and razr. Any rumors on a VZW galaxy note or anything along those lines.

I've reconsidered my position on waiting for the quad cores to come out. My husnand and I have DX's that seem to be dying a slow and painful death so we're probably gonna jump to a Rezound as soon as they go back on sale (hopefully SOON!). By the time that quadcores come out, get the bugs out and become affordable, we'd be looking at another upgrade so I realized that the 1.5ghz dual core is 3x what I have on my DX and that really is a fairly worthy upgrade. Plus looks like it'll be getting official ICS in the next week or two. Come on SALE! (they were on sale for $99 until just before our upgrade dates so I'm hoping for some April fools sale or something!)

Seriously! Altho I doubt the sg3 will have that big of a battery since they're so obsessed with being thin... But I wish they would just make it official already!!!

Quad core had nothing to do with lte compatibility. It just happens that the first few quad cores out are not compatible. It's not the quad core chips that aren't compatible. The only LTE modem currently is made by Qualcomm, and it isn't compatible with the Tegra 3. That will all change soon as more LTE modems are coming that will be.

Of course, since a dual core S4 chip smokes the Tegra 3, this is really all moot.

Anybody think it is significant that the $49 Rezound promo expires on 4/9, which would have the 15-day return period expiring, at latest, on 4/24, 2 days before the rumored launch for the Incredible 4G? Does this make 4/26 more credible for first availability of the new phone?

My 2-yr contract just expired, now eligible for credits toward a new phone to replace my trusty Incredible. If I were to buy the Rezound now, to lock in the promo deal in case the new phone is delayed or just isn't going to come out as rumored, and the Incredible 4G does indeed launch at or about the end of the month, but outside my 15-day return window, would I still be able to exchange one for the other without some exorbitant cost? What could I expect my cost to be?

I dont think the Rezound is a huge enough upgrade worthy of using up a 2yr. I would suggest maybe do what i did, use an insurance claim ($99 i think?) to get a replacement, tell them the phone is lost .. they will give you the updated Incredible2 which is a great upgrade and is very stable.

now you have a newer phone, and an upgrade in case anything awesome drops. In which case your newer phone goes on ebay and can get at least the $100 back i would assume.

My friend has the Rezound, I see virtually no difference between its screen and the screen on my Inc2 (which is not even qHD). I don't think you'll see much, if any difference. And the rest of the Inc4G is going to annihilate the Rezound.

Is HTC still lousy with battery life? My very first phone was a T-mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur) and the battery sucked big time. Flash forward and a friend of mine had an HTC Evo and he had to carry around a portable charger. I thought by now HTC would have gotten better with that.

My understanding has been that, as far as basic phone operation goes, Motorola has great reception abilities, Samsung is just about decent reception wise and HTC's are good as long as they're fully charged. Through the years I've wanted to have my mind changed about all of this but for me this comparison generally still stands true.

Once I got GB on my DINC, battery life suprisingly was tons better. All in all though, to answer your question, Yes.

It looks like slimming down Sense and using the S4 is helping a lot according to reviews. Of course, that is still before LTE enters the picture on the new phones.

Thanks for the input. I read that HTC recognized that they went too far with Sence UI and were gonna take it down a notch with the new iteration. If only the other major 2 would recognize their shortcomings and make adjustments.

I called Verizon a few days ago and, though my contract isn't up until November, they would let me upgrade to a 4G device now. As it stands now, barring my DX doesn't crap out on me, I haven't seen anything that really catches my eye yet. I could hold out for the next Nexus device if it comes out at the end of the year like the last one did.

I got my DX 8 months after it was released for $20 on a one day sale through Wirefly. If I can get a similar deal around the holidays, I will snatch it up in a heartbeat. Right now I'm torn between the Galaxy Nexus and the Droid RAZR Maxx but I'll wait and see what comes out next. I am not opposed to what has been rumored of the GS III. There's still so much time left for me to decide.

I hear ya there. They offered me an early upgrade back in September just because I've been with them so long. I've just been sitting patiently awaiting the next gen processors knowing I don't want to have to strap a brick to the phone to get a day's use without having to handicap everything. I'm hoping the Inc 4G or the Fighter will be the one. I keep my phones the full contract if I can help it, so I'm being picky. I like HTC, but unless the battery life is up to par, I've no qualms jumping ship to Moto. My brother has a Razr and I really like where they are headed. The way they've integrated MotoCast into the phone is really appealing.

Not having seen anything but rumored specs on the Droid Fighter, I'm still holding out that the LTE radios might be 2nd generation models that again are rumored to be much less battery hungry. If they don't show up in the Dinc4 or the Fighter, I'll have to wait until CTIA in early May to see if anything is announced about the new LTE radios and the phones they might be in. Although if the battery in the Fighter is the 3300 mAh then the LTE radio and its juice requirements are not as critical.

Since my "X" is just "humming along" I don't have a problem waiting, although I do have a NE2 and Loyalty discount available as of March 15th

... while the Incredible 4G is rumored for release on 4/26, with:

Both will have ICS, 4G LTE. Much bigger battery on Fighter.

Which will be the better performer on apps/web etc.?
Will either have a noticeably better screen?

Id need to answer those questions, i havent looked into any device yet but i will.

Without looking into a single thing i would lean toward HTC just because i like the feeling of their phones, and Sense is actually pretty sweet.

I think I know what you are talking about -- the Device Workshops schedule. If you check that out, you will see that the last 4 devices on the list (prior to the Droid Fighter) have worked out like this:

Droid 4 --2/16... Actual Verizon retail release date: 2/9
Galaxy Tab -- 2/23... Actual Verizon retail release date: 3/1
Lucid (formerly Cayman) -- 3/29... Actual Verizon retail release date: 3/29

Ahh, good info. I hadn't dug into the actual release date compared to the "workshop" dates, thanks.

I would guess it will be released with ICS. But, I also am curious about the SD Card and whether or not the battery is customer removable. I think it's nice to have that option, "just in case".

Also, no rumors regarding 2nd gen LTE radios, But I guess this is to be expected. That info will be in the official specs when they're finally released.

Right now (based on alot of rumors) the Fighter is on the top of my list for my "X" replacement.

Lots of leaks and info about the Droid Fighter out there! I think it is worth noting that we have seen at least as much info about the Fighter as we saw about the Lucid (Cayman) before its recent release. Verizon looks to have tightened up on substantive leaks about new phones.

Also just found this Verizon system screen shot on Phone Arena, looks like a more recent schedule than the Device Workshops list we previously saw, e.g. has an updated/more accurate release date for the Galaxy Tab and added the Brightside release:

Edit: Looks like the VTE Z66 is an LTE tablet. I wonder, could the Samsung on this list be the next Galaxy for Verizon????

I think it's more likely it's the journal, vzw's version of the galaxy note.
