if you lockup, instead of a battery pull, try this key combo

both vol keys and power all 3 held down for a few seconds, should restart it.


I saw this on xda as part of a discussion about the one x and how one would reset it if it locked up since it has a non-removable batt.

I gave it a try on the inspire and it works, it will reboot it with the os booted, with the os booting, and from in recovery. I'm hoping it will help with a lockup too. If so, I'm just going to consider my battery non-removable since every single time I had to do a batt pull, all I have is just hope for the best and worry that this will be the one that breaks that cheap POS batt door.

I hope they tell people that buy these sealed phones about this. Im sure there are people buying them that dont hang out on sites like this and wouldnt come across that info without help from the Carrier and Manufacturers.

From what I've seen so far I don't think it's rom dependent. It works for me in cm7, in icecoldsandwich and it also works outside of the rom, like when its 1st booting or from inside clockworkmod.

they probably wont tell anyone until you call in to tech support. Seems we've had this built in and lots of other htc phones too and no one knew.

It says in the manual for the One X that if you hold the power button down for 10 seconds, the phone will reboot too. This works in recovery, bootloader and obviously normal phone mode too. I'll give the 3 button combo a shot, see if that works.

Most likely if the combo works in the I4G, it'll work on Mrs Presidentes Desire HD too.

worked a treat. No more taking off the case, opening the battery door, shaking the phone to get the battery to slide out enough to grab it, etc. etc. Also makes me feel better about considering the One X or One X+ if it is out when I can upgrade in a few weeks.
