Help Putting Mobi file onto Kindle.

So here's a question for you all. I have several mobi files stored on my labtop. My fiance would like to put some of those files onto her kindle so she can read at her leisure. How would I go about doing this..I know the files work because I loaded them up onto the kindle ap on my phone, just not sure how to transfer them over to her kindle.

When mine was all stock, I used a program called calibre. It's free and is sort of like an itunes type thing for ebooks. It will convert them as well as long as they don't have DRM. There is an option to push to device (or something like that).

You can move them yourself, but I can't remember where anymore (it's different when running a custom ROM and kindle app). I think it might be in books (or possibly documents) when you mount the kindle sd partition.

You could probably also email them and open them on the kindle as well.

Yeah, you should be able to just plug them into the computer and move them. Calibre is a great recommendation to though.

I agree with this. You can also change the tags on them so they show as the correct type of file. IIRC if you don't change the tags they will show up as docs not books...

Yes. I had that issue and fixed it quite easily that way.

I've also heard that you can email the files to yourself somehow I think it is some sort of kindle email address and it will just go to your cloud but I have never had sucess trying this I usually drop box the files

All you need to do is to connect your Kindle Fire to your computer with a microUSB cable,
Then use Windows Explorer "assuming that you are running windows" and move the mobi books to the Books folder on your Kindle Fire's sdcard.
This is called sideloading.
If you have WiFi, then you can get an app, WiFi File Explorer Pro at the Kindle Store and tether to your Kindle Fire through WiFi.

Not sure what you've tried and where it fell apart, but you have to have your kindle.com address (which you can pull from your Amazon profile) and you have to add the email address you're sending from to the list of email addresses that are allowed to send. By default, no one can send to that address. You have to whitelist addresses.

I didn't white list the address that is where it fell apart for me...thanks!
