Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I might possibly start paying attention around January. My daughter will be up for an upgrade in February but at the rate she is going there will only be a hand-me-down in her future. Little brats do not get good new phones.

Hey y'all. Great posts today all around!

May the knee surgery go well.

Got a lovely new avi, as always, in the wild.

I was ticked off about Lucas burning stuff and then I got joke...

And now, let's talk about HTC and Samsung X and Nexus:

I love my NPrime. I am sure if I had an upgrade I would pass my Nexus to the wife, but if, and only if it was the latest Verizon Nexus (read: unicorn device).

After rooting 4 previous phones to get a near stock build of Android, I will be very hard pressed to get anything but a Nexus. And I won't switch carriers unless some other offers something comparable to my plan price vs features. I have 3 phones familied, unlimited data and text (2 smartphones; no data or text on dumbphone), 1400 min, insured smartphones for under 170.

Lastly, I think Sense is ugly and still bloated. I can't believe HTC didn't, at minimum, use the color theme of ICS. It may be that blue is my favorite color??? I really do love HTC's hardware and dev support but man I love Stock Android out of the box!

From what I got from that review, it isn't that much better. Maybe a tad better screen (which I would honestly have to see it to believe it, videos look amazing on the Nex) and a quad core processor. We all knew before we bought this phone that quad cores were on the horizon. But honestly, how many of us would utilize quad core processors to justify having them? Honestly, the Nexus is overkill for what I do, haha.

Ditto. The thing that bothered me most was the hard buttons. I love the fact on my GNex I can change, reduce or even remove navigation buttons.

I also don't understand the "thinner is better" when battery life is still below 24 hours of normal use. Give me a little thicker phone with a bigger battery.

I hate it when I buy something and then a month later something better comes along that makes me drool. Eventually there will be a new phone that I will "need", but we're approaching 4 months now and nothing is close to tempting me to upgrade.

By January/February of next year I wouldn't be surprised to see there something to tempt BB. (Not that I think she's the sort to fall for life's temptations)

Somethings gotta go...
Droid X
or
Xoom

Both have service, but neither gets used outside the house and with unlimited 4g tethering on my Nexus, kind of a moot point (and waste of cash) to have the other two lines sitting around the house. The Xoom was to use during storm chasing season while at work or if I was actually chasing.

The xoom or macbook pro can be tethered to my Nexus. The only issue I see is the occasional radio glitch with my data on the Nexus. If I had the droidx and my nexus radio "burped" during tracking a storm, that would not be good, more so if I was chasing the sucker.

Both the xoom and droidx contracts end a couple months apart, in 2013. I figure if nothing else, my sister has an iPhone 4s with tethering if the network is being goofy.

Hmmm..
Droid x or Xoom. Both probably need to go but the ETFs are going to be a bit steep.

Hey everyone! Surgery went great, she's already hobbling around without crutches. Which is good, because with three kids, we couldn't afford a long recovery.

I have to say, the HTC One X looks awesome, and my fondness for Sense will be tempting. But thankfully it looks like not coming to Verizon, and I'm stuck here... So first post GNex temptation will pass ;)

Hey y'all. Can I ask a question?

Why is it that when you get married and start a family, there is always that friend that just doesn't get how life changing it all is? I have this buddy who I used to party with and jam with back in my early 20s. I will be 30 in June and as most of you know I am married and have a 17 month old with more hair on his head than Cousin It! And because my wife and I only let close family babysit, we hardly have a social life (and we are okay with that, for now:)). But my buddy doesn't get it. He think I can just drop my son off somewhere and go drink beers, smoke a joint and play music whenever he wants me to. Anyway, I am just venting because I had to tell him this today and I don't think he took it well.

We all have one of those. It sucks because you can see the friendship slowly growing apart and there's nothing you can do. I hope he sticks it out and learns to understand it though.

Until I had my own child, I didn't understand that protective instinct that a parent has. Don't get too peeved at your buddy. Just let him know that your son is king now. Someday, he will have a child and he'll understand.:)

And then there's the other side of the coin. The parents that bring their infant everywhere, no matter how inappropriate, and park him/her in the stroller in the back corner of the [fill in the blank, e.g., bar, pool hall, etc.].

Glad you're one of the good ones. ;)

You know what? I had the same problem. But my best friend decided it was better to have sex with my wife to get back at me...for 2 years. Isn't life funny?

^true story.

Wow. Just...wow. I don't know how I would deal with that...

Sorry brother...

jmar

That was 7 years ago now. Done and over with.

Hakuna matata :)

^my favorite movie.

Seriously though, you did the right thing. If he can't accept it then the friendship lasted for as long as it was supposed to and served its purpose.

alrighty then....
Save The Dates have been printed and will be mailed this week. Finally got it all working after 3 days of printers malfunctioning....frustrating when I am the tech guy...and supposed to just fix it all....anyways....
Going to see hunger games tomorrow night with my better half, her mom and sister. Looking forward to that.
Hope everyone is over their Monday!!!
Today at work we had a nice breakthrough on a year + old project and got several rounds of thanks and good jobs from people. That's always nice to hear!!
See you all on the flipside.....

Ha, I read that too quickly and saw "McCafe" and thought it was really weird that you're coffee would detect a virus?:rolleyes:

Haha, More details: McAfee updated the virus definitions this am and then scanned. That is when it detected this puppy. On further examination, it says it has infected 4 places and it appears the infection has been there since February and only found today since the new definitions. It looks like it is based in Package: SuperUser (/system/app/superuser.apklclasses.dex) is infected. It also says Clockwordmod, and the su.zip for Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.siplsystem/app/superuser.apklclasses.dex

Admitedly, I am lost, here is a link to a similar issue withAVG, does this mean it is safe?
