[Verizon] Signal Problems? Even with the 4.0.4 radio?

I recently unlocked and rooted my phone and flashed Codename Android with Franco Kernel Milestone 1, and found myself with this persistent problem of having no signal and my calls being dropped a couple times. I don't recall having this problem when I had stock ICS. Seeing as how the new 4.0.4 radios were released, I flashed those too but still no changes were observed... Is there something wrong with my Nexus or is anyone else having similar problems as me?

Take care on this one. I was going berserk a while back and it turned out to be Verizon hardware tweaking in my area.

So give it some time. I seem to have settled in on the 4.0.4.

I was told this same exact statement but I never saw an improvement. I went berserk too and just reverted back to stock to wait for the 4.0.5. Currently I don't use my 4g because practically makes my data/mobile service non-existent.

I just flashed the radios yesterday and have had terrible service since in my area. Interestingly enough my phone did "show" 4G in my house for the first time (my wife's phone has been showing it for a couple of weeks now), but when I ran a speed test I got 3.5Mbps...lol...that's not 4G. Something's messed up with my radios.

the update didnt do a thing with the radios, we have discussed this once before, verizon has to update the radios, not google, so i wouldnt hold your breath for anything just yet

that is not the ota, that was pulled from something else, and i dont remember adding that to it, problem is, they may be radio patches, but are you sure it is the correct radio packages? i havent seen anything or heard anything about verizon working on the radio issues yet.

not saying your wrong, just saying i havent seen any information about the radios actually being updated. cause when i was on the 4.0.4 i still got the same signal strength, and the silent mic bug. nothing changed for me except the version number

Yeah, I'm not sure of anything as I'm new to this unlocking, rooting, flashing and most-certainly new to the idea of replacing radio firmware (or whatever it is you do with radios)...so I have no idea...I just know that I changed both the version number of my phone with a flash (to 4.0.4) and I changed the "Baseband version" of the phone to I515.10 V.FA02 / I515.FA02 with the above linked patch.

Either way, I'm still finding the same signal strength (if not worse) and a silent mic bug.

so obviously the radio patches that we have arent doing what they are needing to do, thats what im saying, we dont know what has been changed with those radios if anything at all

Yeh, I think anything other then the OE 4.0.2 radio is called a "Leaked" version. As in unofficial.
I have no mic bug on my device, lucky me. Some may have noticed my signature over the past few weeks has had different radio versions listed as to what I was running.

I have been testing them all even a hybrid and on my device running AOKP B28 / Leankernel 2.8.0 I keep going back to the leaked 4.0.4. It just hands off better and has as good or better signal then the others. On my device.

I seen one post from someone running the AOKP 4.0.4 ROM B29 that claimed better 4.0.4 leaked radio performance.

I got better handoff on the leaked radios but the signal level is still crap as well as bad audio... no audio or dropped phone calls.

3 devices all with both sets of radios did the same thing.

This was my first Samsung device and it's going to be my last.

I had the opposite problem. Went through 2 moto's and my girlfriend has a Rezound. My Gnex gets far better reception and the handoff is seemless. Using 4.0.3 AOKP B28 Faux Kernel.

the three phones you are referring to, are the phones you had replaced. Bad signal, dropped calls, receptions problems in general can be a result of a bad SIM card.

I'm in Australia, have the latest yakju 4.0.4 and the updated baseband. Still the random signal issue remains. I also have a new sim card.
Such a disappointment for my first and probably last Nexus phone.
