I know some might not want to admit it but YES there is lag with the note. It is NOT as snappy as the s2. I love this phone i just with it was as fast as the s2. And what the heck is with the 800mg of ram?!?!?! C Mon att. My question is Will ics fix most of these problems? I can live with the ram. But the lag is unacceptable. And when is ics coming? Your thoughts please guys.

Dude i know i love this phone. I really don't want to ga back to s2 but you said it earlier its the simple stuff that lags. Lock screen, contacts, phone, opening and closing browser. OH! And the stock browser is terrible. Even on wifi i still get boxes when i scroll. So annoying. Keyboard is like a s:(plit second behind. Man i hope they fix it.

Ok, your case is a bit more extreme as mine has NO issues with any of the apps you mentioned. :(

Mine is completely stock as well. No non-stock launchers or anything like that.

My suggestion would be to try a full, clean, factory reset and see if that helps. Something in the load may have been pooched?

If that does not help, maybe an exchange.

I have a theory that something is going on with the processor management on some phones but it is difficult to test

Do you guys have cpu spy? install it and check the speeds at the end of day compared to screen on times.

I think the processor in some notes is getting "stuck" at lower speeds but it's just a silly hunch at this point.

I know a few have exchanged their devices and found that the lag was actually because the phone was defective

I have the Telus version which is the same as the ATT one but with NO bloat ware. Just a clean stock rom.

I have NO lag opening the dialer or any application, or lock screen. And I mean NO lag.

Try CPU spy. I am not sure if ATT decided to modify the kernel and which CPU governor is controlling the phone.

I'm desperately waiting for someone to create a rooted Telus rom/kernel. I'm not using anything built from ATT.

I also have lag on my note, i came from using a moto photon with the latest version available of android for the device and i was able to run widgets and background apps with very little to almost always no lag , and with my note i cant even run half of the widgets or background apps because it lags very harsh ... i reset my phone twice and still experience the lag , i run hidden lock, widget locker , HD widgets, beautiful widgets , fb widgets etc nothing that a phone with that much power could not handle , and why does the OS on my note eat the ram so much?? if any info or suggestions to improve my performance on my note i would appreciate it ... thanks

I updated my note ith the at&t leaked version of ICS amd it nearly killed my note. ICS made my phone slow, laggy, and freeze up sometimes. Definitely not as fast as gingerbread. I upgraded back to 2.3.6 and everything is good now.

I would bet it was just a bad flash.

Rinse and repeat, following OP instructions to a "T" (assuming you tried flashing Dgr8's ICS ROM from XDA).

Good luck to you either way.

I'm using a Rogers Galaxy Note LTE SGH-i717R and experience some lag only when waking the phone. After that though, it's pretty responsive. It does have some Rogers bloatware in it, but I don't run them and just taking up room in the phone.

I have Power Saving mode enabled only if I dip below 30%. Even with that, it pops up a window asking if I want to enable it or not.

But it's running good so far.

Just returned my s2 and picked up a note for $250 off contract. I couldn't pass up the deal. This phone is amazing looking(especially in white), but I've already noticed that it's nowhere near as smooth as the s2 and certain apps are glitchy. Any thoughts on why that would be or if there's a quick fix? I could go back to the s2 for $140 off contract, but this screen is soooo nice.

It's a secret...it took me a total of 8 hours and 4 stores. The rep was super nice and he gave me 60% off the msrp. It can be done if they owe you a favor for some reason. It really does depend on the rep. I got really lucky. 99% of the time you either have to pay full price or get the contract deal. I thought for sure something would go wrong when he was checking me out. When i walked out of the store I was in shock. It'll never happen again in my lifetime!

Thanks! Hard reset worked. It's a noticeable difference. Wonder what the deal is with that?

I don't know but i read on here that it may have been the Cpu getting hung up because something wasn't installed correctly from factory. i could honestly count 1 2 3 4 and my browser would open and literally all my other apps like contact and calculator. even the phone dialer would lag when i pressed a number key and when texting it was god awful. but now it is smooth fast and No lag what so ever. glad i could pass on the knowledge.
