Help Having phone problems since Ice Cream Sandwich update

I used the dialer trick yesterday to get the OTA update. Since then most of my apps take forever to load and sometimes when I touch a on screen app short cut it opens a totaly different app. Also this morining when picked up the phone my lock screen was different. So I hit the power button to relock the screen then hit it again to bring up the lock screen again and it was back to my orginal lock screen. Anyone else having any issues?

Restart your phone several times and see if the app problem persist.Im not sure why its loading different apps
The weather widget has a setting to display the forecast every morning. If you don't want to see this in the morning you have to disable it.
Open weather widget/hit menu/settings then uncheck show weather on lock screen every morning.

everything works fine for me except for the lock screen i used to have the phone, browser, messages and calculator icons but since the upgrade it went back to the
originals and i cant find a way to change it back
Ok here is the solution.Open up your home screen.Add the shortcuts you want on your lock screen to your home screen. Then drag all the shortcuts out of your tray at the bottom to your home screen.
Now drag the ones you want on your lock screen to your bottom tray and give that a try :D

I'm having an issue when I click any link, from email, a text msg etc, the browser always opens the last page I opened instead of the one that I clicked on. Anyone else have this issue or know a fix?
I was having the exact issue while i was on ICS 3.26.502.52
I updated to the newest ICS 3.26.502.56 and the issue stopped.
Are you running the first RUU that was released? If so you should download the new RUU from Htc's website and install it.Follow directions on there site. You have to use HTC sync to install it with there file.I know it sucks to have to do the update all over but that is the only known fix.I guess thats what happens when we try the leaked RUU's and can't wait on the actual release lol..

While seeing issues the OP posted. I had troubles with getting widgets to launch such as pandora and had to pull up the actual app from the app drawer. pulling the battery a few times and a restart or two later fixed that. Then my phone was not able to rotate between portrait and landscape. about 3-5 more reboots seems to have that fixed but I'm noticing every time I reboot it's still showing Android is upgrading and goes through updating and optimizing the apps. Is this normal and I haven't rebooted enough? I'm up to 12 or so since it did the ICS install. At this point I'm about 3 or 4 reboots past screen rotation recovering and everything seems to be working normally except when I reboot and still get the updating progress screen. Anyone else seeing similar behavior?

Yep.This seems to be a normal operation while using ICS 4.0.
The dalvik cache is cleared on each reboot.I guess that's why this happens.See post about the meaning of dalvik cache here.

Ever since I updated, it won't stop syncing with Facebook! I don't want my contacts to be cluttered with everyone on my facebook. I have shut off the sync several times, but it still keeps doing it. I normally just go through the browser to get to Facebook, but I have this app called Ship Mate for our upcoming cruise, and you have to log into Facebook to chat with people on there and post comments. Ever since the update, that app does not work properly either. Grrr. Frustrating!

Open facebook for android.Go into its settings,Go to the bottom under other settings and select remove facebook data.2nd step is go to phone menu/settings/accounts and sync/select facebook and remove account or just un-check sync contacts.3rd step go back home then go to people. At the top click on phonebook and select what you want to show under people.
You might just be able to follow the last step for the contact view option but if you want facebook completely stopped do all 3 steps.
As for the app there may be future updates for some older apps to work better with ICS.

I've upgraded my HTC Sensation XE to ICS.
Problems I've noticed:

- Every time I restart my phone, the "Android is upgrading..." message displays. EVERY SINGLE TIME!
- Like another user has said the lock screen changes. My usual lock screen is the wallpaper one with the 4 quick launch apps. However at least once a day it would become the Weather lock screen...

Anyone else having the restart phone issue??

I just upgraded my HTC Sensation

I am also having this similar problem. It will just auto shut down my phone everytime i try to unlock my screen. And i have to manually start up my phone, and then this "Android upgrading, optimizing applications" message will be shown.

Anyone has got solution?

Hi I launched Ice Cream Sandwich as a supposed upgrade on my HTC Sensation. Although it looks a little better, in practice it has taken away a lot of functionality. In particular SkyGo won't run on it. It is also worse at connecting to WiFi, and the controls for searching for WiFi and phone network connections don't exist anymore. The sliders for switching on WiFi and Mobile networks don't work very well either. My advice to anyone else considering changing is don't - it doesn't add anything of real value, and takes away a number of useful features. In practice it is a downgrade, not an upgrade. My phone is now having to go back to the manufacturer to get the old software re-installed - How stupid is that?! And the emoticons on this site don't work!!
