Root No Download Mode on Prevail

i was hoping to get some help. i have a samsung prevail running on 2.3.6....i decided to do a data wipe before using odin to restore. i had the battery cover off n while phone was recovering it fell out. now when i do three button combo the screen turns on but to a solid black state. i have tried the battery pull, usb connect with no batt, usb connect with no batt, diag mode uart to usb and nothing has workrd. exhausted from searching forums and threads. i was just wondering is there any way i can revert to 2.3.5 without using odin. oh yea......rtried every one click two click method out there n still no root

Does It stay in this halve-download Mode? If so try to re-use Odin In its BSS (Black Screen State) just make sure it runs all the way.
Ps does your computer read your phone/map the com port?

when i put it "half download mode" the computer no longer reads the device. i tried holding three button combo while plugging in usb cable without battery and the screen shows some different color pixel dots where it should say "download". the phone is not locked in this state. i can do a two button combo which puts me in stock recovery or a battery pull and power on. the phone turns on normally i just cant get into dm. my computer reads the device fine until i put into dm and it does not read it as another device. i downloaded an older versions of odin (3v1.85) which read the phone as com 7, but stay stuck when i try to flash. is there any way to flash through adb???

i did a data/factory/cache partition wipe in stock recovery and hit reboot as the screen went black it fell out. the only thing that was affected was download mode. i can get into stock recovery n power off/on normally,
is there anyway to revert back to 2.3.5, or any other rootable versions without odin and or dm

i downloaded odin3v1.85. when i plug in usb with the phone on, the odin program reads it as 0:[com7] i put all the appropriate ter files in but no luck, it reads this

<ID:0/007> Added!!
<ID:0/007>Odin v.3 engine (ID:7)
<ID:0/007>File analysis...
<ID:0/007>SetupConnection...

it just stays stuck there......also this version of odin has option for .pit and .csc files. i did some research but im not sure as to what these files are exactly.

Csc is your cache partition it wouldn't help. I did read something about making a jig. It involves soldering a resistor across terminals on your USB cord and another one about riffs jtag but it involves soldering to your circuit board

just tried usb jig, phone booted into same black screen as 3 but com. Is there any other way to flash back to 2.3.5 with a non rooted non odin reading phone???

yes i know, i was just trying to explain that this version of odin reads my phone as com port and the updated one doesnt

yeah, i was too curt. i was trying to say other versions of Odin are known to not work for flashing this phone. also the jig is not the same as the jtag.

you could try booting the phone normally, enable debugging and use command line from your computer to do
Code:
adb reboot download
to see if you get 'full' download mode from there although i don't think it'll be any different from the 3-button method.

it's possible that you got corruption, of course, although i have pulled the battery during reboot many times and have never encountered this particular problem.

if the correct version of Odin still won't read it I believe somewhere in this forum there is a link to a store that can recover it for you. i recall reading that someone bricked theirs with ROM Manager and they got it recovered but for the price you could probably just get a new prevail.

yea i just got his one and like i said b4, the phone work, its just unrootable at the moment. i will probably just hold off until a one click root or some other type of root method comes out for prevail 2.3.6......thanks to everyone that tried to help, i appreciate the comments
