Original Thread: hyperion 2600mAh galaxy note battery? proved it's fake - xda-developers

Ok, so this has always been a concern with me on 3rd party batteries, which is why I now buy my spare ones from AT&T stores.

In short, RESEARCH and make sure you buy direct vs through a reseller.

hi bodies,

i purchased a Hyperion Samsung Galaxy Note from amazon a week ago, which someone recommended in this forum. it's mark 2600mAh on the back of the battery, so, should be last a little longer than my stock 2500mAh right? but after a few cycles, i feel strange it looks like last only half as long as my stock battery.

i teared off the label whether this battery is good or not, see what i found, there is some code LS514664AR 1750MAH. 2011/12/19.
accoding to my mechanical engineering experience, LS514664AR is the serial number of battery cell, and 2011/12/19 must be the date of manufacture, and 1750MAH is the real capacity of the cell, which means this battery is 1750mAh.

much more less than the 2600mah they marked, and also the 2500mAh original.

i was so disappointed with this company, they made poor products for us, and cheat us more over! i will never trust this company again, anyone else have their batteries? just tear off the label, you can see what you get.

I have an OLD Hyperion battery from another device that was supposed to be a 1600mah and I peeled the label off and I found it was 1100mha, so this has been going on for a LONG time.

Even more disturbing:

I have a 5000mah hyperion battery for my galaxy note, and I ripped off the label and it says "1500mah" directly on the battery... further peeling of the sticker shows what appears to be 3x1500mah batteries under the shell.. so 4500mah on a 5000mah advertised battery.

I'll post pictures later but it says:

1500mah

Response to above:

it's two inside, if you compare the thickness of your OEM battery, you will find hyperion 5000mAh seems doubled, which means 2*1500mAh=3000mAh.

Definitely messed up, but not scary enough to make me run into the arms of ATT for an extra battery. lol

I got a backup battery from a reputable eBay seller that, after a handful of power cycles, has still kept pace with my OEM battery.

If anyone wants the name of the seller, let me know. I got an accessory pack from the guy for under $40 that included a battery, car mount, a poop-load of cases (hard and soft), extra car charger and a few other things.

I think it all comes down to REALLY doing your homework and also asking around with other forum members and even other Note owners on other forums.

I agree, RESEARCH!!! :)

As for running into the arms of AT&T for stuff, I do have a friend that works for them and gets me things pretty cheap. :D

I purchased a pair of Hyperion 2600mAh batteries on Amazon and my early results seem to be pretty decent. I have only used them for less than a week but for $30 for two batteries and a charger I have to say I am pleased. Over time we'll see how it plays out.

I've seen people claim to get 30 hours out of their oem battery. Really? The best I've done with moderate use is 7 hours. That's running Juice Defender and not watching movies and maybe one or two 5 minute phone calls. I play a Words with friends and Angry birds and my battery dies. I would say I get about 3-4 hours of screen time on one battery. That just seems stupid. I bet I lose 6%-8% of my battery per hour on standby. That can't be right.

Seriously, I get great battery life out of my OEM battery. I literally can go an entire day with TunIn Radio going most of the day, watching a movie (90 minutes long) and text/calls as well. Oh, I have Skype always running as well.

Go to the Play Store, download Autostarts. This lets you choose which apps launch and shutdown at what point in time during the phones time on (from start up to specific scenarios to whatever). It's free and would be worth $10 if it was paid. This is not a "process killing app" that stays on shutting things down which then restart themselves a second later. Instead, it lets you manually choose what you want NOT running and when.

Next, go over to XDA and search the Note forums for "Deep Sleep". Essentially, this turns the CPU down as low as it can go while the screen is off. For example, I went to sleep last night with 50% battery (unplugged obviously) and woke up this morning (7hrs later) with 39%, and that's with all my push notifications still "pushing". I don't have any complaints about losing 1.5% battery per hour when the screen's off and I'm sure you wouldn't either.

The basic way to get Deep Sleep to work is, when you have your phone plugged in charging, prior to unplugging it, wake the phone and unlock it. Then unplug it.

Next, you can download CPU Spy from the Store and it will simply tell you whether you're phone's "deep sleeping" when screen off or not. If this method shows to NOT be working, turn the phone off, back on, plug it in again and leave it plugged in for 5-10 minutes. Then rinse and repeat steps mentioned above.

Hope this helps.

I need to check this section a little more often. I bought two Hyperion batteries shortly after I bought my International Note. When they first arrived I found it extremely odd that they were so light weight. My OEM battery feels nearly 2x heavier than one of these.

One of the spares has been acting really strange after using it for a couple of months. The other day my phone kept randomly shutting down and then powering itself back on. It was fully charged, but the battery level said it only had 15% battery left. The phone rebooted on it's own again and magically it was back to 67%.

I'm going to tear the label off that battery and see if it's the same.

With minimal phone usage and everything disabled i can go for almost three days.

Minimal phone usage, dude, what fun is that ;-) I would guess that I play with my phone several times an hour throughout the day. But I hear ya though, if I were to just let it sit I could probably go that long also. I barely lose 5% of battery while sleeping 8 hours overnight so I can definitely see it lasting on Standby that long.

Best bet though for battery life is the samsung stand-by charger. It comes with an OEM 2500mah battery. Never have to leave your phone on the charger with this puppy. It's like having a 5000 mah extended battery without sacrificing the slim profile. When one battery runs out just pop in the standby and let the other battery charge up. Love it love it love it!

I just got a Hyperion 3500mAh battery for the Motorola photon.

The performance and most importantly charge time with a known charger indicate that it is in fact a 2200mAh battery.

I was disappointed by the deceptive advertising, labeling, and bait and switch.

For the price not bad for a 2200mAh, but I hate the deception, so I am going to shout it loud and far across the web, so people know that what they are getting is not in fact a 3500mAh battery, but is a 2200mAh battery.

Guess I should check under the label too.

That is all
