Too many to choose from, my brain hurts...

Hello to all. I am in need of my first tablet and not sure which way to go. I've read reviews and specs, and I'm still kind of scratching my head. So hopefully some of you guru's out there might be able to point me in the right direction.
I have a DX from launch date with unlimited data that is rooted, paid version of TB, and I've had more roms on it then I can count. So that means that I am knowledgeable on how to SBF.
I am in need of a tablet, wifi version only, tether from DX, that I can load TB on and restore apps from my DX and Market. This tablet will be used for my sons baseball team to keep score / stats ( gamechanger (wifi tether) ), and educational apps for my daughter. Any help is GREATLY
appreciated..
I have been looking at the Moto Xoom, Asus , or Samsung Galaxy ( all 10" )
Thank you

I know you seem to be focusing on Android, but have you considered the iPad? For educational apps for your daughter iPad spanks any Android offering (unfortunately, and hopefully only temporarily). I don't know how important using TB is for you, so it may not be an option, but just playing a little devil's advocate.

As far as Android tabs, I really think one with a USB port can really come in handy, especially for transferring files between a PC. My Acer is nice, and you can get for $250 right now. Asus is probably the best out now, but there is a whole slate (no pun intended) of tabs coming out, so keep your eye out for those.

Antimonyer, why are you promoting apple in androidforums man? Ipad's have less than half of the power most android tabs have.. and i think galaxy tab is good for educational purposes.

I am not promoting, other than to make the sad but true observation that Android is lacking in educational apps for kids. I would never buy an iPhone, but I bought my Acer thinking the kids would love it, but there just aren't many children friendly tablet apps, and they see things like Disney's app-mates, and the Umi-Zoomi app advertized, and want me to get them, and I have to tell them I can't. Now for me price was a limiting factor, so the iPad was out, and the full size USB and removable microSD card are major perks Apple can't touch. But I like to be honest and upfront here, even if it means sending someone  "Over there".

I already have some of her apps on my DroidX, so moving to an iPad and buying them again is a no go. Besides, I will never buy Apple, too restricted.

I tried looking but I can't find the sale for you...

...you might want to PM him to see if he remembers...I have found this Walmart.com: Acer Iconia Tab A500 Picasso XE.H60PN.006 10.1" 1GHz 16GB Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) OS Silver Refurbished: Computers

Ok, I might do that. Thanks for looking for me, that was quite nice of you! :) The cheapest I had found was about $290, so the Walmart one saves a bit more.

I've only bought two refurbished things before, two routers.. one which worked, one which didn't. And I've seen refurbished insurance replacements for phones with very mixed results. Do they generally do a good job with tablets, or does it depend more on which store you're buying from?

Either way, I'm probably going to wait and see what the deal is with the Nexus/ Google Play branded tablet, whenever that is announced. From the information that is out there, it sounds like the price point with be at $250. Whether it will be a 7" or a 10", I'm not sure. I kind of want a tablet to play with, but I'm not sure how much I'd use it around the house. What I really need it for is using it as part of a very portable teleprompter setup for my business. So I want to make sure I can get something reliable and I probably need a 10" to work well. But I don't want to spend a bunch because I don't know yet how much I'll use it in place of a computer for every day stuff.

No problem, I am also looking for a tablet of sorts, I've got a kindle fire but it's not cutting it for me really.

I've seen mixed reviews for refirbs, be sure to check out the exchange and return policy before purchasing from anywhere ;)

Yeah I am also looking forward to see what google comes out with when the nexus tab is finally released. I think it should be sometime this summer :D
