Muve Music for Mercury now available via OTA update

I don't plan on subscribing to Muve but I did apply the firmware upgrade yesterday, it changes the boot animation to a Muve logo and updates Android from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6, it also installed the following google apps:
google music
google+
google books
google video

The update fixes the voice to text issue by lowering the microphone's record sensitivity, this is really the only reason I wanted to install it lol, audio quality still suffers during video recording but it is slightly improved due to sensitivity adjustment (still uses the AMR audio codec).

I wasn't sure if the update would go through being my phone is rooted but it worked and was still rooted after the update.

I didn't uninstall any stock apps so it might fail if you're missing any, I froze them in titanium backup instead.

Thanks for posting these details. Anyone else who has updated please share your thoughts. Anybody noticed any downside?

Anyone having problems sending MMS messages after the update? 90% of the time they're failing to send and it was never a problem before, I have no problems receiving MMS.

Ive tried reverting to the Stock messaging app (normally use Handcent) but this didn't help.

Tried clearing caches & data, reboot, Not sure what else to try..
Can anyone check their services (Applications / Running services) and see if they have this? Not sure why its running but it started happening after applying the Muve update.

Did anybody check to see if the update still has Carrier IQ installed?

@mathesar- can't find anything called AutoTest on mine. (non updated 2.3.5) Hmm, looks like a Huawei service. Wonder what that is. "main process that is in use" sounds kind of ominous lol. The Chinese government is spying on us, Nooooo....

Yea It's an odd service and google search brings up nothing, But so far the service hasn't started back up (it does if I reboot tho).

Carrier IQ is still detected after the update.

Did you delete any bloatware when you rooted? I've read that can cause problems with official updated sometimes.

Also, anyone who has updated, does the tethering still work?
Nope just rooted, then later the recovery. yesterday i was bored so i flashed a rom, today i restored my nandroid backup and my android market isnt letting me download any apps.

This question haunts me. If I'm able to download then I'll let you know. There's no extra fee for muve is there?

I'm gonna be the test dummy here and find out if downloading all this crap destroys my tethering ability. If it does, then you guys that can tether as well may not want to do this.

I didn't have tethering with 2.3.5 (redirected to tethering sign up page if I tried to use it).

My biggest issue with the new Muve bootup animation is the annoyingly loud jingle it plays to the point of distorting the speaker, Ridiculous.

The Muve service costs an extra $10 / month if you wanted it.

You nailed it. I restarted twice. It's more static then it is a jingle...way too loud. I actually miss that bright greenish startup.

Music through the earphones is very noticebly louder. I didn't think it was quite before, but it is much louder to the point of ear damage.

10 bucks on top of of what I'm paying. Hell no. Thanks .

Eh, I think i'm going to skip this. I barely use the voice to text anyway. I have an app called Equalizer that makes the stock ROM sound good enough. Did anybody ever get a stock ROM zip put together that people could flash if they don't like the update?

Oh, yeah, I got a text from Cricket today saying to bring my phone to the store to get the update lol. They barely know how to activate the phones when you buy them haha. I don't think so.

Everytime I thought i had figured out my MMS issue after applying the Muve update the problem would randomly return, I finally gave in and installed the Revokster rom by oriax123 from cricketusers (found in the stock replacement rom thread), All I can say is Wow... My problems are gone and this rom gives the mercury a nice boost in overall speed.

Does anyone else who updated notice that their phone is faster cause mine defiantly is. I had tiny lags on certain effects before (using go launcher ex) and those are gone. It's smoother then ever before which is already saying much.
Are you talking about this muve update or the custom ROM from CU? Also, does this update totally wipe your phone like flashing a ROM, or do your apps and stuff stay on the phone?

My mistake, that wasn't clear at all. I mean the muve update. All my phone functions are much smoother. I'm digging it.

Oh and every thing you have saved stays exactly the same. Only visible differences are the start up and the new Google apps.
