Help Won't Get Power After Charging broken, etc

I tried to charge my phone using this cheap micro-usb cable that I got, it was my first time using it, but now it will be the last. I had no problems with my phone, but once I charged from the night using this, well now my phone is all dead, and no orange or green lights come out! And taking the battery out and putting it back in doesn't work! I've tried re-charging it with the normal micro-usb cable, but it will not give me any of the lights.

So, will getting a new battery fix this problem? Or is there something else broken.

weird never heard of something like this happening with just a cable. if nothing is happening now then it might be the battery. good thing that batteries are cheap now days. this is what i bought:Amazon.com: HTC Standard Battery for HTC EVO 4G: Cell Phones & Accessories and i have had no issues with it.

out of curiosity was it connected to the wall charger or the computer?
