Rant Alert.....

I've been an Android user for several years. I've decided to move on.

I'm sick and tired of Google's arrogance and control.

Every time I get my phone just the way I want it, they force some BS new garbage on my phone and it renders it stupid.

First it was the inability to use programs that would terminate applications.

Now it's Google Play. I Freakin HATE this Google Pay Garbage with a passion. I can't get apps anymore and I'm not the least bit interested in their music or stupid games or other Garbage. It also breaks my phone and my data usage is about 125 mb per day even if I dont use it. ENOUGH of being a Google Zombie / Lemming !!!

Anyone else fed up with Google ?

Sry..just frustrated :D

I am not rooted, haven't rooted any one if the 3 Androids I've had, and I have no deal breaking issues. Have I had a few minor issues, sure, I'm carrying a tiny computer in my pocket, there are going to be issues. The one major issue that I did have was resolved to my satisfaction. But overall, my phone just works. I've kicked around the idea of rooting, and may eventually do it, but for now, if it ain't broke.....

So you are mad at a name change? and no i'm not fed up with Google. If you feel a change is what you need so be it, that's part of life, making changes to benefit your situation.

Well you just keep enjoying that lil sugar pie then. You are still on the honeymoon.

I was just like you a while back. But When I look online, LOTS of people are just as disillusioned with the direction Android is going. Google Play is a mess, is overloaded, a drain on the phones and far too invasive.

Im just not afraid to say it is all.

Like I said...

I USED to love my Androids. They USED to be great.

I think Google is going a bit too far to make them iPhones. Yuk :p

Android the way it was before Froyo was better...simpler...less invasive.
Everyone knows it but everyone wants to feel included and see the kings new fabulous silk clothes (from an old fable) so noone says anything. Human nature. I dare to speak up. Crucify me ;)

And yes, I'll be switching soon.

I don't understand what you mean with regard to not being able to use apps to terminate apps and can't download apps.

I know many people with android phones that aren't rooted and are not having the problems you're having.
Maybe if you would explain yourself someone would be able to assist you.

lol.

Not looking for assistance.

It's a rant. A little steam relief. A beef with Google.

It's this or go Postal....hmmm...which is better ?

:D

So then, why is it exactly you don't like Google Play?

Well, it's overly complicated and distracting...imo
It broke my phone...in fact
It's not optional
It consumes too much space....imo
I don't want Google Music service
I dont want Google Book service
I dont need Google Games
It's another Google force fed app
It added too many support apps to my phone
It slowed my phone down
My phone now uses far too much data even when not in use
I don't like it..I like the plain old Market better

Ok..that's a start

Seriously, my phone has not worked well since GP installed.

;)

If it broke and slowed your phone, my guess is you are using some outdated piece of crap phone. Lol. I'm on single core, no task killers, lots of apps, still running fine. Not rooted by the way.

Well now...you may have a point there whippersnapper.

I have an LG Optimus.
<------------------------------
See? It says so riiiiight ....THERE

(and an Intercept which inst having quite as many heartaches and chest pains as the Optimus at this point btw)

(Flicks a flea and takes another sip of beer)

Am I missing something here? Ever since the play update, I haven't noticed any increase in data usage, phone speed, or anything else. I don't really care for the new play interface, but it isn't complicated or anything. Google Play is less than 10 Mb, so it isn't taking up a lot of space, nor have I noticed it launching itself when I check to see what is running.
I understand that in order to continue to put time and money into android, Google needs to make money on it and this is just one way of them trying to capitalize on their investment (which i imagine is in the red at this point in time).

Yep. You sure are.

Back when I was at 12 posts where you are now, heck, I thought my shiny new Android was a potential wife.
MAN! I was IN LOVE !
Almost married her. Boy I am I glad I had 2nd thoughts. Divorcing Google would be messy and costly

Down the road a piece when the joy and novelty wears off, and she gets a little droopy,
you saunter back in here and repost now, ya hea ?

WHEW !!!!

Oh, I know what ya mean about Google needing the money badly and all.
Do they have a Donations link somewhars ?
:D

I would agree, it's probably time for something different. I would think you'd be happy with Windows Mobile. It's simple, direct, and works good on low end devices. WinMo doesn't have a dual-core phone, yet (they will soon, though).

There isn't a need to validate an OS change. If you feel strongly about changing, I'd suggest that you just go ahead and switch. I wasn't too keen on the Google Play name change, either. I've also noticed that those who didn't upgrade to GPlay had trouble downloading from the old Market, and sometimes even after installing GPlay, users would have to clear the data on it at least once before it started working right. But after that it would work fine. I don't know if that bit will help your situation. It's worth a shot, though. Even if your continued use of Android is short.
