Root [CDMA] Need to Unroot my EVO 3d

I'm sure that this has been asked and I have looked at some other threads but I'm still really really confused.

I have Hboot 1.5. I need a step by step guide. I get confused when it says to download the file in root file. I did not root the phone so I do not know if it was done the HCT way I have Super User on the phone.

Any help would be great.

That is not a reason to Unroot, first we need info on your phone, are you sure it is rooted, what HBoot are you on, what carrier are you on, if your phone was rooted, who rooted it, What Rom are you on, there is no need to Unroot to get the updates you want, and how do you know you need updates. Maybe you have different issues, give us as much info ans you can, then we will proceed from there

To get the updates and my phone has crashed 8 times in the last two days.

I have Hboot 1.5 Yes I'm sure I'm rooted. A friend rooted it. No clue on the Rom. My phone says I have a system update and my friend who has a non rooted EVO has gotten the updates and I haven't and I know what the update did and our phones are different. I have no idea why it crashes. Sometimes I will be doing nothing with the phone and it will crash.

Well I still would not take the update, as there is a good chance it will unroot your phone and who knows what will happen. Go into Settings/About phone, Software information, that will tell us what Rom you are on, report back

Well I want the update. I can not update my phone unless it is unrooted. Here is what is says under Software info. Android version 2.3.4, HTC Sense version 3.0, Software number 2.17.651.5.

OK, from what I can see is this, first you want to update, but you don't know what the update is, lol second, my guess is somewhere you did update and that is why your phone is messed up, because it is on the new base, so you are on a Stock rooted Base Rom right now, did you call the person that rooted your phone, when was it rooted, if it has been a while and you are on the new base then somewhere along the line your phone got updated and that is most likely why you are having issues. Are you on Sprint ??

If all the above is correct and you choose to want to go back to a full original stock, then you will have to run the RUU again, if that is the case and that is exactly what you want to do, then I will guide you to the proper post to do so. But before we do this, I would suggest simply trying to do a Factory reset and see where that takes you, but I would strongly suggest you make a Nandroid backup first incase.

The reason for the factory reset was to see if that would resolve your issues without unrooting, now if you still want to unroot, then I will give you a thread of a staff member that just unrooted if you want/

I have asked my friend who rooted the phone. He claims that he doesn't know how to unroot it. I did a factory reset and that did not work to unroot it. After the phone was rooted I was never able to get the system update. I don't know if I can reroot the phone after I unroot it.

Remember our friend here is on HBOOT 1.5, so the commands that Rocky used may not work exactly the same :) Plus a different RUU will be needed.

The quickest way and easiest way of 'mostly' unrooting would be to download and install the latest RUU (FileFactory Premium) Also ignore the 'premium' links and such. You can download that file for free.

After you install that, you'll be 100% stock, but your bootloader will be unlocked. It won't matter if your bootloader is locked or unlocked, because you'll have the stock recovery and you won't be able to flash anything without a custom recovery. If you ever decide you want to root again, we'll be here to help you do that. As matter of fact, I have a guide for that here:
