Root help for determined newbs..

I want to start this for newbs like me. because you gota learn somehow an i have done great so far thanks to you guys.. i understand the anoying newb questions an i have read all posts very well. galaxy precedent as so many of you know im sure is incredibly slow. i cant even watch a 20 second youtube video. i have rooted an done the 3g optimize by changing proxys to 0000. an it helped a little bit. very little. can some one help me PLEASE!! im sure alot of other people are having the same problem. ANY advice will be soooo helpful an of course i take full responsibility for what happens to my phone thanks...

Flashing AreaRom2.2 is the next step, that should increase your phones speed.

It might be your coverage. The Precedent plays YouTube videos just fine as stock. If you live in an area with a lot of saturation it's unlikely a new ROM will increase your download speed that much even with the proxy changes.

The Arearom supposedly has a few tweaks to add a little more horsepower to the phone, but you're still going to be at the mercy of how much data comes down the pipe - hence the buffering.

We'll I tried the new rom an let me say it is amazing.. it has improved it in several ways an the look is awesome!! I've notice a little more speed but its never played videos good even with full bars? I really wish i could fix that soo bad.but iv goten adicted to this stuff thanks for all the advice. Anymore suggestions would be greatly. Apreciated thanks guys

akashik does have a point, it depends on your coverage. You can try flashing a PRL and see if that helps any.

Not at all it went really smooth. An my phone seems to be doing vary well other than loading its so annoying not being able to watch a video. I'd really like to try fl ashing O rlando but that one thing I da thingna't know a thing about???

No, a new radio isn't going to give you signal where there is none. The Precedent radio is pretty decent as cellphone radios go. If you're in an area with no Sprint signal (that's what the Precedent runs on), maybe an AT&T or TMobile phone will work better for you. Check with friends who use those carriers when they're in your house to see whether they get good signals.

I'm surprised that Walmart sells Precedents in areas that don't have good Sprint coverage. Then again, Walmart employees aren't hired for their extensive knowledge.
