Help Issues with usb connection

I have a LG P500 running cm7. The USB connection has always worked fine, but I tried tonight, went to turn it on, it did the icon like it was trying for a while then just went back to the home screen, and it changed my theme! Also strangely when I try to do it afterwards it shows me as being on telecom network, when I am on skinny, not a big deal as skinny is owned by telecom, but a bit weird since it always shows skinny usually (goes back to skinny upon reboot). I have tryed a few times not with the same result everytime.
Anybody have a clue what on earth has happened?
I am very frustrated as it has always worked in the past and nothing has changed that I can think of.

When I unmount the SD card and plug it into a card reader in the computer it says "USB Device not recognised" and something about it malfunctioning. is this normal for a partitioned card, or is something wrong?
Interestingly when I unmounted the SD card it changed my theme and went back to telecom as my network, so obviously the problem is something to do with the SD card, but all the apps etc on the SD card work fine.

Just take it out, clean the connector part with a piece of cloth or even your fingers, then insert it back. Happens to me sometimes, this always fixes it.

Had more issues last night, so decided to unpartition card to see if that fixes it as that seems to be where it started, just wanting To check how to do this safely. Do I use a2sd to move apps and dalvik cache back to phone, back up apps then erase card using phone (will that get rid of partition?), then transfer the back up from before I partitioned back onto the card? Then to be safe go back to the Nandroid of before I partitioned? I will use it like that a few days, check it sorted the issue, then try partitioning again.
If that doesn't work I will reflash.
Could someone please confirm that is how you safely un partition?

I hate this stupid phone.
I wasn't stupid enough to try unpartitioning without anyone telling me if it was right or not but a lot of googling told me that fixing permissions might fix some of the force close issues I have been having but its just made it a million times worse. I can't open go sms without it force closing straight away, and android.process.media is force closing every 30 second or so :(

What do I do now? Put dalvik cache back on internal memory and factory reset, then unpartition card and put the sd card backup on it and go back to my nandroid?

Problem solved by reflashing ROM thanks to Gremaldin and ariel_ who helped me a bit on live chat. I can connect to USB storage, and I am not getting lots of force closes at this point, now I just need to set up my phone how I like it and I think get some stuff back tonight :)

ETA: Dammit still getting force closes! I am going to go back to nandroid I think

Recovering nandroid has solved the problem, though of course now I can't restore any of the apps that weren't there before I partitioned as there is no room on my phone, I need to find out how to unpartition. Then I am going to try to partition once more I think. Frustrating, but I am in a better position than before.

Right now I have erased card in my phone in preparation for getting rid of the partition and it would no longer mount. I can still use USB storage in recovery so opened the card in easeus using that and it said "unallocated", so I formatted it all to FAT32, then put my backup of the SD card back on it, still won't mount.
If anyone knows what to do, please let me know! I am doing a lot of googling.

Update:
All fixed, not sure why though, I just kept trying the same things over and it worked in the end. I have now put another partition on also, just a small one, in case the largeness of the other one was causing issues. Am putting my sd backup back on there now, so fingers crossed, but going well.
