I have a ton (like 35) of these files on the root of my SD card...

DiskCacheIndex12839.tmp
DiskCacheIndex47600.tmp

etc.

OK to delete all of them, or have to leave ones w/current date?

Where are they coming from, why do I have so many!?

Thanks!

Hi. Cache is simply temp files used to speed up performance on your droid. Here is the web definition from www.looselycoupled.com :"Short-term storage. Cache is used to speed up certain computer operations by temporarily placing data, or a copy of it, in a location where it can be accessed more rapidly than normal. For example, data from a storage disk may be cached temporarily in high-speed memory so that it can be read and written more quickly than if it had to come directly from the disk itself; or a microprocessor may use an an on-board memory cache to store temporary data for use during operations."

I delete mine daily and my droid runs like a dream.

Yeah, we know what cache is, but they did not use to appear on the phone, and all of a sudden they were there. We were trying to figure out if there was a detrimental effect to manually deleting them.

Having deleted mine several times, now, I know that there is not, provided that I make sure that none has a current date....

johnlgalt, I was only trying to help those who didn't realize what cache was...I thought it easier to define it before I answered. It was not my intent to offend anyone, just trying to help...like everyone else on the forum.
