I've been on AOKP since...build 17 I believe. Haven't flashed another ROM as my phone ROM since! I have tried many others via Boot Manager, but the AOKP community, the speedy and quality work of Team Kang, and the level of customization and functionality that AOKP offers keep me on this ROM. It can be so Vanilla, but it can be so what ever other "flavor" you want. Go Team Kang.
Way too many issues with AOKP (major battery drains, UI crashes, random reboots, freezes, etc). Flashed BAMF 4.0.4 last night and I'm pretty sure I'm sticking to this. Lightning fast, solid build. No issues and it seemed to correct the ones AOKP previously had.
My vote goes to AOKP. It was my first ROM, so I'm sure I'm a little biased, but I do keep going back to it. I liked Liquid, but I felt AOKP was just slightly smoother. I tried MIUI, but couldn't last more than a day on it. I just flashed BAMF due to the strong comments, so I'll report my thoughts in a day or two.
you will like bamf, it doesnt have as many customizations as AOKP, but there is a reason for it, the functionality that BAMF has is amazing.
people dont stay on it because they dont have the same customizations as AOKP
but in all actuality, do you want every rom to have the same customizations?
i honestly wouldnt, i like different, it works. i have tried all of these ROMS
IMPO
(in my personal opinion)
BAMF
Apex (Fab is just an amazing dev, and hope we see an upgrade to apex soon!)
AOKP
are my top 3
Hey VS, give LiquidSmooth a spin. I've been using it for awhile now and I really like it. Seems like all the customization of AOKP and all the smoothness of BAMF.

So many of the other roms use AOKP features and some are outright kangs. Why not go with the guy who actually writes the code. Roman is one helluva dev.
The fact that the AOKP thread here...both views and post count thoroughly obliterate the other rom threads speak volumes.

3 phones ago I loved cm7. Now with the galaxy nexus I love aokp. there are some settings under rom control and will never be in cm9 and those are the ones I like the most, ie navbar customization. Right now you have to flash a .zip to get the order/buttons you want. no way man

I tried Liquid... and it was nice but I had several issues on and off mainly with screen rotation. Ended up back on RootzBoat (I see I'm alone at least in this thread!) and love it. There should be a new RootzBoat out soon as well.
Here's my update after trying BAMF for a few days....I'm going back to AOKP. I can't pinpoint what it is, but AOKP just felt right to me compared to all the others.
ICSourcery gets my vote. No pesky daily release versions, all fixes done on the fly. > 100 fonts, boot animations.. animations/battery icons/kernels/soft key mods/pull down screen mods all from within the rom... currently 7 themes available inside the rom as well.
