Evo V or One V?

Hmm. I'd say One V, ICS built in, and Bluetooth 4.0. I don't need a removable battery, HDMI, or a 3-D camera. I just need a phone that works right out of the box. Yes, the Evo has a DC 1.2Ghz, but it doesn't have ICS. Even if VMU picked up this phone, I doubt they would ever update a phone again, a la Intercept upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2.

The Evo is receiving an update to ICS, so I would think it to have a decent chance of launching with ICS when it's re-branded for VM. Also, I think the biggest factor for most people (myself included) is the screen size difference (3.7" vs 4.3"). Just can't go down in screen size from my Triumph.

I'd like a removable battery. Sometimes you gotta do it.

Touche my friend. I guess I'm used to having iDevices without removable batteries... lol

I'm hoping you're right. (About VM launching it with the update)...

CNET just had an article that talked about the Triumph (being on sale for $188) and I came across this:

"I do have a couple gripes with the phone itself. First, it runs only Android 2.2, and apparently Virgin has no plans to issue an update. Second, it lacks a dedicated camera button. I've also had less-than-stellar results with Virgin's Sprint-powered network, at least in my area, but your mileage may vary."

What a shame.... :( This phone is so much better with CM7, and if VM/Motorola would update it, we could have a "full" version of CM7 (maybe with HDMI and a AGPS patch)... but I digress. I'm glad that we have such a great dev community. :)

I own an Optimus V. Rooted, with a custom ROM (BACKside) and Link2SD. There is nothing that VM could possibly introduce this year that could even touch what I now have.
The BACKside dev (JerryScript) just keeps adding more goodies and making the ROM better and better. This is now the most customizable ROM on the planet.
I'm overclocked to 480MHz min. and 768MHz max. where I get my best battery off charger times: 2 and 1/2 days with light usage, or 6 hours of solid screen on internet browsing with WiFi.
With Link2SD I have 151 downloaded and installed apps and have 123.3MB of the initial 178.87MB of internal memory left, as well as 227MB of the initial 425MB of RAM left.
I could try to list all the features of the BACKside ROM, but don't have time. The Gingerbread ROM on the Elite will pail in comparison.

As for me I will stick to the Optimus V and the BACKside ROM.
Maybe next year(2013) VM might have something that will give the V a run for it's money, but I'm not holding my breath.

The Evo V would probably blow all the current VM phones out of the water with it's 1.2GHz dual-core processor...imagine the roms and mods you can make from such an upgraded processor. This is assuming the rumors are true that the 3D is even coming to VM.

I'm thinking about getting the Triumph for $188 from Walmart, though I'm hesitant. Any advice on whether I should pick it up now (currently stuck using the Intercept) or wait for the HTC One V/HTC EVO 3D/price of the Triumph to drop even more? I wouldn't mind waiting a couple more months to get a significant upgrade (I've suffered through the Intercept for almost a year now), but having a Triumph now sure sounds good.

I would wait. I have the triumph (from the Intercept also) but I had to do quite a bit to get it to work really good. I'm dropping the Triumph if/when the Evo 3d comes onto VM.

Don't get me wrong I love my Triumph but I'm anticipating that switch to 4G.
I know it's coming as my regional rep was shocked looking when I told her I already knew of the changes coming to Boost/Virgin Mobile. LOL

Evo 3D rebranded as the Evo V, Not bad but I think they should of left 3D in the name.
I think this phone would be the one worth waiting for honestly.
The specs and unique features make it a major "Bring VM back to life" phone.
Even if it's still on WiMAX it's not anything to cough at.
It's way faster than our 3G network now so it's worth it.
For me it's just now awaiting the approximate price and what sort of random surcharges you may incur on this 4G.

I'm thinking it'll show up around June-July.
Just a few hints I've picked up but hopefully it's true.
Don't quote me. =P

Any hint as to if there will be a 4G surcharge? I'm hoping not. We'll obviously have to ditch our $35 dollar plan. I'm cool with that to get the Evo V, but if there is an additional surcharge of 5-10 for a feature I can't even use in OKC, then I'm definitly getting an unlocked Galaxy Nexus and hitting either T-Mobile or Striaght Talk. Though the 100 minutes wouldn't be enough for me, I don't think I'd go too far over and there is still the $.10 a minute option.

Just saw that my supervisor has the Evo 3D for Sprint and he said 4G data speeds are ridiculously fast and coverage is excellent here. Woot.

WiMAX wasn't bad to begin with. A lot of areas are just slightly conjested. Which is exactly why they are branching WiMAX out to us prepaid and converting to LTE for postpaid.

I have stayed with VM specifically because I knew what was coming.
Perk of working here I guess. LOL

I am thinking that it's likely that there was be a slight raise in the monthly price.
Though this is not official. I've just noticed that pattern.
Like with Boost, When they carried more androids they added the $5 add on for Android.

The other option I think is that they will require you to get the unlimited plan. That would be $55 for unlimited 4G. Either way I still think it's not too bad.

Also Sprint has expansion plans, So if where you live doesn't have good coverage for 3G/4G just hang tight...
