Major scratch!

I've just rammed my OX into the current car holder I have because the new one hasn't arrived yet, I thought it would be fine as there is foam on the sides and back but, somehow I managed to catch the aluminium body of the holder as I forced the phone into the holder and created 3 Aluminium coated scratches down the back of the phone, aaah!

I thought that was it, I've got a majorly scarred OX for life HOWEVER! I rubbed the back with wet fingers and then rubbed hard with my t-shirt and after a minute or so the scratches have completely gone! I did not expect this to work but it did and I'm well impressed with the hardness of the body material.

The key scratch test I saw on another thread was nothing compared what I did to it! unfortunately I didn't take any photos as I was brassed off and then highly excited when I saw the scratches disappearing!

Awesome news! If I can just manage to protect the camera lens/lens cover, I'd like to rock this without a case...

Well as mentioned in another thread, I just use some spare screen protector for the lens, I did this for my Desire and it works a treat. If it gets scratched and affects the pictures you can easily replace it.

Edit: In fact there is a gap in the market for producing these so you don't need to cut them out, come on someone, make them! especially as I normally mess them up and end up doing a couple to get it to fit.

When I get mine (when AT&T wakes up finally and realizes "oh yeah, we could be selling these" and I can get one with LTE), I plan on fashioning a punch to use for it (best way to get the perfect circle). Get me a precise measurement (down to say, 1/2 mm ?) of the diameter and maybe I could start it early...

That's a big maybe though, I'm not sure if I have the steel; it was just the cleanest solution I could think of this week

To protect the camera lense look at buying the martin fields screen protector it came with the screen protector and 2 small round protectors that fit the lense perfectly.

The screen's certainly made of tough stuff. As for the back, it's a 'self-healing' material so if you buy some de-ionised water, I picked a big bottle up at Morrisons for

I've tried the official HTC ones and just got the Martin Fields one. One problem is neither fitted to the full width of the glass but covered the actual display, fine length ways. MF protector was a lot easier to fit and is thicker but just as responsive as without. As for camera lense a perfect fit. Might look expensive but lasted a long tine on my desire hd so hoping it's true for one x.

I haven't used Ultra Oleophobic, but from what I've read the feel is nearly identical to Ultra Crystal? It just resists oil better. (I've always wondered how well it actually resists oil though - do the oils just clean off easier and not smudge about like on the Crystal?)

Martin Fields is pretty close to on par with Ultra Crystal in my experience (HTC Evo 4G & Evo 3D).
Martin Fields may have a tiny bit more grip, but it is within reason. They both feel almost like the actual glass. Martin Fields is slightly thicker material, and the edges are not as seamless as SGP, it also has a UV coating. It makes the protector slightly more reflective to light (supposedly lets less sun hamper the display brightness). I've noticed in bright sunlight, when there is some finger oil on the protector in direct sun you can see the UV coating, it looks purplish/rainbowy - it is probably slightly polarized for UV blocking? The real selling point is the camera protector and is the biggest benefit.

Overall Martin Fields is very similar but SGP has the slightest advantage over MF quality wise. The Camera protector is hard to pass up though.

For some strange reason the HTC ones never cover the entire glass, and only cover the actual picture area. They are terribly designed, and to be universal depending on the screen size.

Usually Martin Fields cover the entire glass bezel to bezel, but leave a very tiny buffer all around for installation ease. Its weird, you can even see in their product page the yellow area over the phone screen doesn't go all the way to the outside edges. There is a slight white area on both sides.

Is the glass slightly convex? I know in some of the promo photos it really looked like the convex glass like the Nexus S has. Maybe MF created the product from promo shots thinking the glass was convex? Or does the One X glass slightly curve outwards? Maybe they can only cut straighter edges and not slight curves.
