Go into "SD card & phone storage" in your settings and click "Unmount External SD card":dontknow:

i did so and when i re mounted it it read the card but when when i go in to applications, manage apps when i touch on sd card the old one is still picking up and not the new one:hmmmm:

That's because it is reading what is on your internal SD card (4GB internal )
To see what is on your external you can use an app like Astro or Root Explorer:)

Those are versions of the phone software. Once you update the previous version IS gone.;)

Too many apps n downloads n data n backups in internal.
You need to go into the settings of each culprit (btw there are other apps that backup, not just the traditional backup apps) and change to external their download n data...those that well allow, that is.
You may have to delete and or Manually Move to external all downloads n backups.

The directory structure to access external is: /sdcard/ExternalSD/Downloads(for example)

Edit...n to access internal is say, /sdcard/downloads....some apps create their own...like /app name/download...
And U'll have to make executive decision which apps to move to external...perhaps sort them by largest size n move the least used ones. Some should not be moved...system, widget, browser, multimedia, those that need to run constantly....

Good luck...
