I can hear the frustration in the tone of your post. Take a deep breath and relax, we're here to help you in as much as you want or need.

Now, for the record 2.3.x is the latest version of Android shipping on the SGS2. None of the Galaxy S2 phone ship with 4.0. 2.3.5 is not ancient, it's current. Since the unbranded phones stop at 2.3.4 and you have a phone with 2.3.5 I am going to assume it's branded, which means the official update will come from your carrier, whoever you've signed up with. Some haven't released the ICS (4.0) update supposedly because they've discovered some issues with the SGS2 phones. I don't know about you, but I'd certainly prefer they work out the issues before they pushed it out.

It's not that Google doesn't care, but they are only responsible for pushing out updates to the Nexus models. Because of the licensing, official updates must come from either the manufacturers or carriers, and they get the code from Google when everyone else does.

If you are determined to get the latest OS on your phone as fast as possible, you can flash a custom rom, but that is not without risks.

If you need help with any of that, just ask, but please ask nicely. Not only will you find more people willing to help you, it's the rules.

thanks for quick reply . and for frustration part ,yeh i am frustrated cuz i though buying a s2 will be better then nexus but .... nevermind .
and i am not willing to flashing a custom rom .
my S2 is unlocked so their is no thing called carrier update (or is it ?).
and yeh i will try to post nicely but i am just pissed off right now cuz it's just too nasty due to fact that many s2 phones got ICS update month ago.

I checked with Samsung's website Support for GT-I9100 and they have the Manual for ICS to download but there is a notation for European models only, so I would have to assume that those are the only ones with it so far. You may be able to get that version, but it could require you change some settings to get it to work. There's been quite a bit of discussion lately about the availability of ICS on the S2 and a lot of speculation as well about when everybody will get it. I'm afraid I can't answer that.

Judging by your CSC code of OJP, you have a multi regional, unbranded, generic, handset that covers Egypt, UAE and Iran. None of these areas have received the ICS update as of yet. In fact, as you will see from post #2, here:-

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/523455-ics-csc-you-eligible-update.html

... the vast majority of the world has not received the ICS update currently, for reasons explained in post #1 of the above link. In fact, it was only yesterday that the XEU CSC code for Europe was released.

As lunatic59 mentions, the only Android handset, to-date, that has been released with ICS, has been the Galaxy Nexus.

Since you have ruled out flashing an existing ICS firmware via Odin, I'm afraid that all you can do is be patient until there is an ICS release for your CSC code.

wel first of all i just bought my SG2 from arab but right now i am in india is that matter ?

That's no problem but your up-date is still subject to the CSC code of the phone.

i forget to mention one more thing well i use english as my default phone language so can i able to download direct UK version cuz arab or asia version are just multi-language nothing exta.

You could use the methods described in post #1 of the link that I mentioned, to flash, via Odin, the XEU release, if you so wish.

Can I make a suggestion...

DON'T do it.

I've flashed my phone via Kies and now the Bluetooth Media Streaming/Audio doesn't work, it stutters all of the time and now I have the problem that it won't connect properly with my cars hands free system.

I've sent an email to Samsung support asking how to resolve the issue. I await their answer with interest.

You have posted this same suggestion of "don't do it" on multiple threads citing this one problem of bluetooth media streaming.
Other than this I haven't seen major issues propping up.
And what about the numerous improvements that ICS brings??

It's apparent that this issue is really bugging you and I sincerely hope that it gets resolved for you asap.

Yes I have posted it in multiple threads for one very good reason.

That being not everyone reads the same threads, so the more exposure the problem gets the greater the chance there will be a quicker resolution to it because people who unwittingly download and install this defective OS will complain.

The more complaints will hopefully force its withdrawl or a faster update.

Also for some people it can cause serious inconvenience.

Well in that case I would suggest starting a new thread yourself :p

I really don't believe that the OS is defective. This is the first I have heard of any significant bug.

Really hope they can patch this issue soon :)

Posting the same question in different threads is a bit of a no no. Its due to the fact that it can cause confusion as you can get conflicting answers in the different threads and it can waste members time answering something which has already been sorted elsewhere.

Edit: I hope that didn't come across as me having a go as that wasn't my intention. More a friendly bit of advice:)

Hello I also just got samsung galaxy S2. I bought it online from china and i live in Cyprus. It has Android version 2.3.5 and recently i noticed a problem. When i call or recieve a call and try to put the conversation on the speaker. I can hear the other party but they cannot hear me. I verified that this is not a hardware problem because mike is working for other cases except that and therefore I would like to upgrade the andrid version ( i would be happy with any verson that all the spects work, i think 2.3.6 should be ok in this case) However again when i check on the software updates, it tells me that it is not availible.

The phone is unlocked.

Could anybody tell me how to solve this. In this case i think i dont need rooting or something like that.

Thanks & Regards,
Meltem

Hello

There are a number of options for you to upgrade, the latest ver is 4.1.2 jellybean however you would have to ensure it has the correct language pack etc

Alternatively if you let us know your carrier we can point you in the direction of the latest carrier release.

Please also confirm you have a I9100 and not a varient of the phone

Thanks

Thank you very much for your reply. Yes I have I9100 and as I mentioned the only reason i want to upgrade the version because when i recieve a call, it doesn't work on the speaker mode.

I live in Cyprus, and the my carrier is KKTCELL. Do I need to do anything with them?

Does anyone have any idea how this speaker mode problem can be solved?

Thanks a lot
