Here ya go, a overclocked kernel for the LG Connect MS840.

Whats it got?:

  • enabled the cpufreq settings up to 1.8Ghz
  • edit the default.prop to allow root
  • set adbd persist
  • enable debugging by default.

This works ok I will see about pushing its limits a lil ;)

Flash in CWM, no wipes required.

Plague_LGConnect.zip - fixed :)

Well let us know when u get it working, I know u need a unit to actually test tis out, there was a guy on the forums offering to give a developer his unit, I am not sure if he contacted you playfulGod but it would be great if it can be tested, or let us know if you find what went wrong that causes it to loop.

O really? Why not isn't easier for you to test it on it heh, well is up to you. You think you can fix the problem with the kernel without the phone by any chance, not doubting you, but you are working without any way of testing it heh, anyways keep up the good work.

you missed the sarcasm my friend ;) think... 'unit' ;)

Yea having the device makes it alot easier to work with n do initial testing with. ;)

Hey Pg. good to see you on here. Heard you got a connect sent to you :) I was gonna try the kernel, but sadly I don't think this phone would benefit from the traditional overclocking tactics :driver: lol... the battery is tiny, dual cores are more efficient on this one but chew power faster when in use. I think undervolting might be the only thing that could improve it this time around...

By any chance in the source code did you see the GPU's vsync option? I badly need to try disabling/enabling it to see if it gets rid of the annoying video tears when scrolling... i suspect the video chip is too fast for such a small screen.

battery drain is just a cost of the benefits of oc'ing ;)

And the video comment just doesnt make sense ;) If as you stated the gpu is really too powerful then there wouldnt be any issues because of it ;)

Yea thats who PM'd me. Aere has offered one up to but hasnt had a chance to ship it yet.

Alright hopefully they can get to it so you can make some more cool stuff and make it better, LG UI is terrible and well I don't trust them with software, developers usually improve their mistakes , like battery life, radio and over clocking which I'm interesting on doing, my boss has over clocked his and gets better quadrant standard benchmarks, even though mine gets better on antutu, I want to overclock mine and compare once again.

If the GPU can draw more frames than the LCD can display it attempts to draw multiple frames/parts of frames to the screen at once when it should be drawing one, on a tiny screen that looks like stutter, on a bigger one it looks like 2 mismatched images or a step ladder effect. Vsync basically limits the framerate to what your lcd can actually display, avoiding the problem. Usually we only see this on PC games when your video card is able to do > 60fps and vsync = off, but your monitor refresh rate is 60hz. Ever notice that when it's not stuttering halfway during scrolling it's silky smooth? that's why i have the suspicion.

example

And yes I agree completely about the OC Part being a tradeoff :) It's either a ferrari with bad fuel economy or a regular car with long milage.

Did you ever figure out how to add the homeless kernel changes into your plague kernel by the way? This time around we should just have one with all that merged together so we don't compensate anything

yea I've had those in it for awhile now, on the esteem anyhow, not got to that yet with the connects, but will once we determine wtf its issue is with booting lol.

yeah lol... we always do :D They probably took out some key stuff by accident trying to hide proprietary stuff... wish the big guys would just open source all the drivers and stuff without messing with it first. It's not like they got anything to loose, except locking us out.

One thing I noticed is how similar some stuff on this phone is to the settings I used in my lg esteem optimizer, right down to the i/o scheduler and vm heap size. It's almost like big brother is sitting out there looking at our kernels and apps. At least it's better by default software wise but i'm still not sympathetic :musicus: lol

thats a rather big paradox, he doesnt have the phone hence why he keeps asking for testers. so he isnt gunna know when its completely stable

Well yeah that's what I meant, I wish I could be a tester but since mine is a refurbished unit it cannot use the download tool, well it doesn't allow it to download, i know it sucks, but if it doesn't work the only solution is to restore with the soft brick mode, which my phone cannot do, anyhow if someone does test it and get it working let us know.
