Is it me, or has "early April" come and gone. As Foreigner's Lou Gramm once said, "I've always been a patient man, but my patience has reached its end."! I know I can root and get 4.0.4, but I figured I'd give Big Red a shot at an OTA first.

Not throwing in the towel yet (still a Nexufan), but I'm in the windup. Talk me down, people!

It was to make up for how long it took to get the update to the nexus s 4g.

So, no matter what it shipping with lastest update and vzw are on an outdated OS, PERIOD.

I've given up hope for timely updates for the galaxy nexus. Soon I am going to start researching ways to safely flash roms and root the phones. My one hope is that the gnex is very root friendly and not prone to bricking.

It's easy. Let me know if you need help. It's easy with the WugFresh Toolkit for Windows users. As a Linux user it is super easy, but it is all command line, which I find pleasing and simple.

I've got machines running Windows XP and OSX Snow Leopard, which should I use? I've never hacked a phone before. Thanks.

Agree, not to mention usually the dev's get the roms out that make it even more smooth than it is out of the box and add some nice little tweaks also.

Simple question: must I wipe my phone and re-install all of my apps and reconfigure the settings that aren't backed up in the cloud if I flash the latest AOSP build? I don't care about custom kernels, modded ROMs, etc. I hated the whole re-setting up the phone process that I went through when I tried several custom ROMs on my old Droid. Thanks.

First off, the OS is not outdated. Different "point" releases come out all the time for specific carrier models. The GSM models always get quicker because they don't have to get propietary code from verizon for the CDMA radios. The update is more than likely done software wise, just waiting for the hardware (radios) to follow suit. But come on, saying 4.0.2 is outdated is rediculous. 4.0.4 just included gsm bug fixes, not gonna help your LTE phone too much, now is it? Research people!

Apparently since it helps with battery life, volume, signal issues, mic issues, dropped calls etc it is going to help that CDMA phone very much. Those that installed the leaked CDMA 4.0.4 said it helped immensely.

Dropped calls and signal issues is in the RADIO, not the OS itself. Radios are put out by who? Verizon. Thoe leaked radios did fix the signal a bit, at least on mine. I've never had a dropped call (stock or rooted), and i live in an crappy signal area, or any mic or volume issues, so can't comment on that (not saying thay don't exist, i just haven't experiened them). Its all in the radios, and CDMA is more of a pain because they need special code sign off from the carrier (i.e. Verizon). Fact is, this is how every nexus phone so far has been (Nexus S i believe waited 6 months for their first update) and is part of the experience. You are a beta tester for google, plain and simple. They'll get the bugs worked out, they (almost) always do. This is why research before buying a device is critical. No one should be surprised by whats going on, just how it works. Its still the best out there, as far as i'm concerned.

Those that installed the leaked CDMA 4.0.4 said it helped immensely.

actually i'd say it's about 50/50 on that. It helped some, didn't help some and some it made things worse.
