Help redux 1.2 probs - reflash or new rom?

trying to sort out my wifes phone, which i passed onto her with redux 1.2 installed. nowadays the battery sometimes dies within seconds after it gets to 30%, and also she has problems with the market, often not being able to d/load apps.

ive suggested a fresh wipe, and try again. should i just reflash the rom already on the phone, or try an updated or different version do you think?

good battery life is probably the main criteria. espescially as its nearly two years old and it may be the battery rather than the rom thats at fault.

This is probably half and half. The battery could do with being callibrated, but as it's a relatively old, the battery health may not be as good as it was. For calibrating, why not try this method. My battery dies at 15% and I've just learnt to live with it - but 30% is way off!

As for the issue with the market, have you wiped all cache/data from Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Market? Try uninstalling any updates etc.

thanks a lot. have calibrated it now hich has improved it a bit, but not sure i did it as well as i could, so gonna do it again properly.

as for the market, yes, thats what ive had to keep doing. is there any way to stop apps updating themselves tho?

Stop apps updating themselves? You can always disable automatic updates - in fact I never let any app update automatically.
