Ok so Ive been a AOSP fan ever sense I started flashing about a year ago. I loved the clean look of CM7 .... loved how customizable it was ... and loved the SBC kernel from tiamat. At that time AOSP could only support the SBC kernels. I would flash back and forth between sense based roms and AOSP but found myself glued to the AOSP rom. The rom I ran longest was the evervolved beta rom ... flashed last year and ran it for months and months ... even as a beta. Was a fairly solid rom. Was just too lazy to flash anything else. I ventured away from the forums and got a bit rusty when it came to the flashing world. Ive been back for a few weeks now and am back in the game. I decided to give Sense roms another shot especially since they now support HDMI and SBC. I flashed Mik3.11 with the UnderworldV.04 SBC kernel. So far its running pretty dang smooth. I have not noticed any serious issues with it. I am really picky when it comes to smooth/stable roms that are fairly quick. Mik has never let me down ... he puts out great roms. I did notice it takes the screen just a second to wake up after unlocking the ring...but not too bad. I flashed the "Lights out" theme pack as well. The only thing i didnt like about the theme was you had to stay on the stock sense launcher in order or the rosie to stay "themed" or else your icons would be brightly colored ... and not all icons were themed. I found away around that ... i switched to launcher pro and used it's icons in place of the actual icons since they were already darkened via launcher pro. I will keep you up to date with my findings on this rom ... going to run it awhile. Check out the applications launcher icon below ;)

Ya i just came from CM7.2 with the tiamat sbc kernel and was not that impressed with battery life compared to previous CM rom/kernel combos. Only thing bugging me with this rom is it takes a while after screen is unlocked to be able to swipe or select an app .... couple seconds anyways... thats too long. Other than that .... solid ... going to test HDMI in a bit.

Hmm...I don't really have that issue now with the classic kernel, I did with underworld. I am also running PapaSmurf's updated script, have been since v5.0 with no issues. No other scripts running, don't want too many as interference may happen ya know? I also love the theme that timberwolf on the mikmik site has..it looks good..I'll post a screenie in a minute

First shot is homescreen, 2nd shot is 1 screen over.

Update: I did not mess around with the Underworld kernel much to try and get it to work for HDMI ... shouldn't have to. I flashed Netarchys toastmod sbc kernel ... success!! The lag i spoke up before after the screen unlock was due to the Underworld kernel as well. Im going to run Netarchys Kernel for a bit and see if there is any lag.

That kernel is for Froyo, and it will bork things like you described on a Gingerbread ROM.

Give Chopsuey a go, or maybe the Freedom kernels. Also there is the Underworld kernel with SBC and HDMI. Make sure you have the HDMwIn app from the market, that should fix you up. :)

I am currently on Underworld with SBC ... no HDMI ... and I have HDMWin application... you must have that lol. I ran Chopsuey when it first released and I still couldnt HDMI with it ... plus it ran like crap on my phone. I did flash a freedom kernel last night and it just basically froze my phone up when mirroring over ... had to wipe every time i attempted it. I ran GM kernel for a long time ... but wasnt aware you could HDMI with it ... was it updated?

Ya i figured ... they are ooooold school kernels

IMHO I've had my best experiences w/ old school ROM/kernel setups. ROM's based off of the 3.28, 3.29, 3.30 builds coupled w/ Netarchy's toastmod kernels were the truth! Not saying it's not good now,....but it's definitely not as good (IMO) as it was then.
