Root Very poor signal using CM9 / AOKP

Can anyone help with an issue I get using AOSP roms. On a GB rom I normally get 1-4 bars of signal in my house, 3G is fairly rubbish but it does work. Whenever I flash any version of CM9 or AOKP I get 0-2 bars of signal, and mostly no mobile data.

The phone can be sitting on a table and show 2 blue bars, often if I pick it up it will change to none and give me network errors. I can still send texts and make calls when it is like this, just no data.

Switching back to a GB rom I get all my signal back and the slow but actually working 3G. I have tried several modems on both GB and ICS and they show no difference in behaviour.

Since I have wifi at home it's not a real issue for data, however it seems to kill the battery searching for a signal. The "Time without a signal" shows 20-30% most of the time, vs 0% on GB.

Any ideas on why ICS roms are giving me no signal?

Cheers,

Richard

i cant give a definitive answer but i would suggest keep trying modems. each phone and each area reacts differently. the nice thing is you can mix and match modems to roms. what works for one doesnt mean it will for another. and for the record i would assume it has something to do with kernel/modem combo vs your area.
