Hi
Though Nexus and SE's X10 have faster processors than Hero's. But I love the Hero's Sense UI and this thing is confusing me in making a decision to go for Hero or N1/X10.

And then yesterday I read about Hero's successor - Espresso, I think - and I definitely want to go for that but again it has a processor of 600MHz.

I'm on Three (UK) and don't want to leave it. can you please tell me the difference in functionality of 1GHz and 600MHz? Is there a great difference?

Is 600MHz more than enough on a smartphone?

Does Sense UI justify to compromise on N1?

Which phone should I go for, N1, X10, Hero's successor?

SE's X10 is a very appealing phone, both in terms of looks and functionality. Its UI is very nice and its specs are capable to handle much future updates. But I read somewhere that SE won't update it beyond 2.0 because they are not good in after-sale-product-support. Any idea about this? Is it possible that one can download updates from internet? Will SE's UI be compatible with newly downloaded updates?

Sorry, I asked so much. I appreciate if you can answer these.

Thanks

The Hero's successor is called the HTC Legend. It's a nice phone and solid built. It is however, quite a bit slower than the Nexus 1 or where the X10 will be. That said, it runs android 2.1 with Sense UI. So in that regard it has the X10 beat out of the gate.

You could get a Nexus One and use it in the UK w/ 3G. Which is what I would do. 1. It's cheaper than the X10 will be 2. It has a huge community backing. 3. The additional hardware, OS, etc are all ahead of the X10. You can already port 2.1 w/ sense to the Nexus one even. So there is really no reason not to go that way.

the only thing you're going to get with the X10 is the Sony Ericsson name and a unique look. Nothing else about the phone is really cutting edge. In fact, it's behind the curve here. They should have released it 4 months ago and it would have been the best phone ever.

The X10 does have the best camera amongst Android phones (8MP, face recognition etc) - and even the upcoming Legend sticks with a 5MP camera. The camera is, probably, the main reason i'll be getting an X10 at this point. Time and mediascape seem pretty nice too (but HTC's social networking integration is pretty good too).

But in my opinion, you need to have a good look at all these phones (there's plenty of info on the net) and choose based on your individual needs.
