Help Coby Kyros MID9742

I have the 7" version of this tablet MID-7042 that runs ICS 4.0.3 and ran into the same problem. No google play. able to install via .APK but crashes when it is open. Same thing actually happens with flash player. Tried superoneclick for rooting and it hangs on step #7. Tried Sony's steps with closing it out and restarting many times but it doesn't ever seem to finish.

Has anyone had any luck on these coby devices with another root application?

Downloaded latest flash player from adobe website, installed, quit app, checked that it was installed in my app section. Went to We Choose the Moon: Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing and see only a small blue lego with ? ?

Related: still uhnable to access google play to install apps' but have found some apps through amazon. I really feel the app store is a bigger isue than flash as I need an app to run part of my business that is only available on play. I sure wish I could tweak this thing like my droid x2 phone. I can't even get a file browser that explores the exsd card, but I imagine I would need root in order to delete files and have that type of admin control

Frustrating! :eek:

Thanks for all the past and continued support. As a community we can lick this issue. Has anyone contact the manufacturer?

Duh! downloaded 1mobile link , installed latest flash version and now I have flash.

Now let's get google play working instead of a force shut down.

When you tab a search window in your Browser or Searchbar on your desktop, does a little microphone show up on the Right Side ?

AFTER MUCH CONDIDERATION, I RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE WHO BOUGHT THE NEW COBY 4.0 TABLETS, 7042, 9742, 1042, ETC SHOULD RETURN YOUR COBY TABLETS FOR A REFUND !

I have an older version, 7127, and have managed to get by after hours and hours of search on the internet and hit and miss fixes. The newest versions 7042, 9742, 1042, etc, seem to be set-up to Prevent Rooting. So you are stuck with what you have and do not have.

After checking around, I find that COBY does not support any of its tablets. Coby does not supply patches to correct problems NOR do they Update The Operating System (Firmware) to future Versions. COBY's support only offers (1) Owners manual and (2) Picture of the tablet. No real support.

I Compare COBY to ARCHOS. Archos has a support page where they continue to fix problems and even UPGRADE many of their tables to Newer FIRMEWARE Versions. Archos Support Page: HERE

I get the impression that COBY is just a marketing company that Buys and Rebrands tablets from other China Manufacturers. Look at the Coby Support page: HERE .. Coby seems to just Sell and Abandon.

ARCHOS, on the other hand seems to have software engineers, programers who continually work to improve their tablets. Archos Tablets are priced about the same as COBY. Lets keep our hopes up that the developers can engineer a work-around. I've never heard of a device that can't be tweaked, its just be a matter of time. The tablet doesn't suck, it is quite useful and at this price-point you really can't complain. I just need to figure out how to get my real estate apk installed on it so that I can ditch the laptop in the field.

Then try to use the GooglePlay Script again.

I re did it like you said. Opened file from computer black window on my PC made choices advised was finished and to remove usb and reboot but now I get market unfortunately has stopped when I reboot and if I click the market symbol top right on the tablet

OK - So Googleplay Installed On your Tablet - GOOD

Try This, On your Mid9742, Go to Settings > Applications> Manage Applications ALL > ... CLICK on the Market App (or Google Play app) and click "Clear Data"

Restart your tablet and try to open Google Play Again.

I thought that the Script installed more apps than the Google Play App.
Was the Google Calendar installed? Gmail? ???

GREAT since Calendar and Gmail were Installed, we may be able to fix the problem (( GoogleServices Stopped Unexpectedly )))
The problem may with the SYNCing of Gmail and Calendar" TRY THIS:

1. turn off sync - you can do just for google calendar [ this is faulty one ]
2.go to settings->apps ->manage apps ->all
3. find calendar storage -> clear cache -> clear
4.find calendar sync -> clear
5.reboot phone
6. reeneble sync ((( dOES GooglePlay Work Now? ???

No, Try the process again without Reenabling the Calander SYNC

BBB FIX SYNC METHOD
Goto settings > Accounts & Sync > (goto your gamil account)
You should see there Sync contacts , Sync Gmail, Sync Calendar.
Try to manually sync each one individually.
See on what item you get the error.
Usally you get this error if you have problem with you Calenadar Sync.
So what you need to do is to clear it's data!
goto Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > find "Calendar Storage"
press the clear data button.
That's it, try to sync again...

Does Calendar Have a SYNC Option ?
If so, try that ?

HOW ABOUT --- Go to Settings > Personal > Accounts & sync.

IF IT DOESNT WORK, TRY THIS :
Goto Settings > Apps > ALL > Google Services Framework > Force Stop > Clear data)
or
Goto Settings > Apps > Running > Google Services Framework > Force Stop > Clear data)
rESTART your tablet and Try to open GooglePlay Again.

none i can find... sheesh why do they make it so hard? Putting the market on my 8125 was a breeze compared to this.. gmail is listed under accts and sync but sync settings is dim you cant chose it.
