Root Odin flashing(Return to stock) for the Samsung Transform Ultra

Warning for Ultra users

Just sending warning out to the Ultra users, today i restored a kernel via Cwm by selecting "backup and restore" "Advance restore" selected my file that contained the kernel and MD5 checksum then choose boot.img.
when i booted my phone it got stuck at the "SAMSUNG" screen, i cant boot into cwm but i can boot into download mode. Anyway i followed the Odin instructions and boot my phone to download mode and connected my phone but wait this is the best part "my 2 computers dont pick up my phone in download mode" hahahahaha :hmpf:.

Man that sucks, sorry to hear that. Let me know, I would love to help in anyway I can, would hate to see you leave the TU. You are a huge asset to the community.

Did you make this kernel yourself? What was the size of the boot.img you tried to flash?

Not sure but i think it was the same kernel i flashed that bricked it today
It was all my fault guys.. I was at work and asked chev if he wanted to try it. I should have just waited until I got home and tested it myself. It was BobZhome's kernel that Koumajitsu took and added the init.d enable lines to init.rc. I honestly had no idea it would ramdump his phone from restoring it or I would have never gave it to him. maybe at the worst bootloop.. :dontknow: I usually never give someone something I haven't tested first.. that is the last time I ever do that.. Sorry chev. I take total responsibility and if it doesn't get replaced or fixed, I will send you mine..

okay never used Odin before but would really like to get a little Odin experience do i use Stock recovery: tu_stock_recovery and tu ops to restore back to stock ? that's the stock rom? or system which is the PDA and after i flash this one image i would be done? or what if i wanted to use mRree's transform ultra odin packer 1.0 when i open it i see a

folder FROYO
folder Ginger bread
transform ultra Odinbackup.bat

how do i use thease to flash the mRree Rom? or any of our tu roms with Odin packer
should i do a wipe before using odin?
should i wipe dav cache before flashing with odin?
have a working tu with cwm on boost running star-rom

that is not for flashing a rom to your phone. that allows you to make an odin backup from your phone incase you want to flash it later via odin.

seems like you should do some more reading in these threads before you attempt those things. I know it can be overwhelming but you must learn and understand it first before hand. I would start with the first post in this thread and then maybe this thread VV

http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...ock-factory-updated-02-23-new-fa19-image.html
please note, this thread is for the prevail and not the tu. just use it for reference to learn from. don't use any of the files there

in order to give you a better explination of how this works and what odin is. if you have a specific question then feel free to pm me or ask one of us around here. everyone is cool arruond here and will try to help you get answers

The drivers are installed correctly on my computers because PenguinRepair talked my into ram dump mode and my phone is recognize there but not in download mode. So just a warning Ultra users sometimes Odin just can't save you, so be careful when your doing anything especially with kernels.
I will see if samsung will send me another phone but if they dont my days here at the forums are done its back to my incognito. Good luck to everyone it was a great run with the Ultra, i'll let you guys know if samsung gives me a new phone or not.

hey chevan I am still getting use to the transform ultra. I have the epic 4g (keyboard) . but I know 3 people that has this phone and I want to help you guys as much as I can. with what ever knowledge I know/can get. with that being said. on the epic if you can get into download mode your not bricked. If your computer will not recognize your phone try these 3 things. reinstall your drivers, try a different usb port, and last but not least use a different cable. alot of people on the epic side has had problems with the samsung stock cables. and from what I have seen it's the same one as you guys have. I hope this helps.

I tried different usb ports, reinstalled drivers, and different computers but never tried a different micro usb cable. I dont believe i have another mirco usb card at home plus i already sent my phone to Samsung. Not sure why it would work for a non bricked phone and not work for a bricked phone i doubt the cards where the problems, at least it wasnt in my case. This baby is hard bricked it wiped all the crap that was needed for download mode. Thanks for suggesting this though, Samsung should send me another one as they will not know wether it was rooted or not, they can only assume.

Ya its weird I know. My epic is. On a rfs/ bml. Format. It look like the t.u. is on ext4 /bml . I don't know if that would factor in or not. I thought I bricked my epic. It would not do anything. I took the battery out plugged it. in the pc and bam I was able to get into download mode. I know its a different phone. One thing forsure never disconnect while odin is in progress.

Is there a benefit to using Odin to flash to stock, as apposed to flashing a stock image with CWM?
If you bricked your phone but still have access to download mode then Odin will save you. This is the major reason for using Odin to flash back to stock GB. The other reason might be to go back to stock GB to get Sprint/Boost updates if they ever happen.

what line do i plug in the stock recovery for odin and after i plug in all images i check one click package and run that correct?
u put the ops file in and then you click the one package option and do all 3 packages seperate doesn't matter the order and pull battery after each reboot after the third one you should be flashed back to stock you have to open and close odin 3 times
how long should flashing to stock using odin take?
for me it took like 10 min max

I have been fighting to use odin to flash back to stock so i could update to 2.3.6 all i get is a message on my phone that says odin-ack fail or invalid command or some crap like that. I just bought this phone yesterday. I originally had a prevail and used odin to root it. obviously this phone is nothing like the prevail, but is there another way to do the 2.3.6 update?

You bought it yesterday.. are you already rooted/have cwm? If not just sit tight and wait for interdepth to post a rooted version of 2.3.6 and everything will be gravy. People are posting about odin right now to return to stock (so they can update) which you prolly have right now..

for me it said it failed on the phone then i waited and it got through just run odin 3 times with the 3 separate files dont pay attention what pops up on your phone just wait till it reboots pop out the battery and unplug it after each time and then it will be stock it wont delete your apps or settings it just messes around on the insides resetting the build version and stuff like that use the one package setting

The links work fine. But I compared the output of flashing the boost kernel and recovery and the sprint kernel and recovery and for the sprint ones the output on my phones screen during the download is a huge unrealistic file size and I let it run overnight and nothing had changed. Should have written it down and posted it. Well I am un a bus on my way to work now and I don't have my computer with me so I can't do it now. But anyway I don't know if I dropped packets or something during the download but it didn't work on my computer. It could be my computer at fault so here's the specs (I have no money so don't laugh): Foxconn NForce 590 sli motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+, 4 gigabytes of DDR2 RAM, and windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

For any lingering doubters out there about Odin flashing on the Ultra....I bought another Boost Mobile Transform Ultra, flashed CWM recovery using Odin and did a stock backup to the SD card. :D

./adb devices
List of devices attached
M93010B20FE2 recovery

Can you please post/send me the CWM Recovery .tar file you used in Odin? I have used the stock system and kernel already, but I want CWM back and I would like to use Odin but not sure how.

EDIT: I guess the recovery .tar file you have in OP is the CWM Recovery you speak of. My bad, it looks different that the CWM we had before (perhaps because I am not rooted at the moment.)

Do you have a way to root with Odin yet? If not, I will continue to wait for the update + cwm + root that Interdpth is working on.
