Jealous of this guy!! HTC you have let me down big I'm truthfully disappointed in your lack of software updates lately in a general matter not just ICS!! Stop making a new phone every day and fix the current phones and update them when they are capable of being updated !!!! Not 1year later or never!!!

Although, most of us tend to disagree with you, you have certainly made your point known with multiple comments saying essentially the same thing. I think everyone here realizes you are extremely frustrated. Now, can you please stop your rant/tantrum so we can carry on with the productive, insightful posts AF is known for?

Come on guys, this thread was almost dead until 814 htc evo started complaining about where is ICS. If he really bugs you all, ignore him. I honestly find it funny. But I can understand why you all are getting tired of it. With that said, 814 I have a question for you. When is your next upgrade? If you can't upgrade until next year, then I can somewhat understand how you feel. But if you can upgrade this year, you have no real reason to complain.

I hadto fight for my 1year upgrade just to get the EVO 3d on day one..do you guys remember when Sprint did away with 1year upgrades in the middle of some contracts (well mine was a lucky contract who was at the 1year upgrade point) so i called and called and they finally gave me what i was entitled to in my original 2year contract just in time to pre order the HTC EVO 3d to get it on day 1..with that being said I hadto sign another 2year contract which now locked me in for 3 full years...so the switch to LTE bothers me especially because Wimax never even reached within 100-200 miles of my current location...and now my hard to get upgrade went to waste because our device has not only hit end of life but Wimax is dead in the sense of it was an attempt and a failed attempt so now LTE is on the way out and well I'm stuck with the 3vo until April 2013 atleast and even then that's only 1year upgrade price which isn't like it useto be 1year upgrade at New contract price mind you... So I just feel like i got screwed in the long run without knowing it...LTE il get over until i can upgrade, but lack of ICS to this point, no Wimax/ LTE to this day anywhere even close to me within 1-2 hours... And now the 3vo hitting the end of life just all combined absolutely drives me insane I feel like we got suckered that's all...the 3vo is a Damn great phone and I LOVE it but i feel like we didn't get the full potential out of our phone's from sprints end and now were not able to upgrade for quite some time unless you wish to spend $400-500 etc...for a new phone which I'm unable to spend on a phone..I never meant to annoy anyone I just get over excited and really p.oed to easy so I'm sorry for that and il refrain from posting after this post !! I'm sorry I got really carried away again and again!

I'm actually glad I didn't use my upgrade to get this phone (had another upgrade for different phone number) so I get to upgrade again whenever I want. I just got a Galaxy Nexus for a different phone number (pick it up from the store tomorrow) so I will get to see what ICS is really like.

I know I'm gunna sound like a sheep right now, but if Sprint doesn't get any of the new Android phones as soon as they come out (galaxy III, etc), Since the EVO LTE wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be, I'm probably gunna switch over to the iPhone5 when it comes (only if Apple finally puts everything they promise into it). Since all my work is on Mac's to begin with, it will just make syncing work and play all that much easier, since HTC doesn't make software to completely sync their phones on Mac.

Well you're not locked in for three years, its two years. Your contract will end in 2013. Wimax will be around until about 2015. You are good so don't worry. And since you are stuck with the 3D until next year, you can wait until ICS comes. You should not be in a hurry. I want ICS to hurry because I'm going to upgrade soon and I want to see what it looks like and how it performs on this phone. You have time on your side I do not. So just sit back and enjoy what you have for now. Remember, you have what many others do not, 3D.

Pretty much whatever phone you get, you're going to be jealous of other new phones coming out a year later. My friend who got the original EVO, very early in 2011 has GOD AWFUL battery and has 0 chance at ICS. He would KILL to trade places with you and you're miserable frustrated state.

Clearly we all want ICS, but in all honesty... the phone works pretty well right now. I think you are overestimating how much ICS will change your phone experience. If it makes my phone experience 10% better I'd be ecstatic.

I, and everyone else, clearly want the update ASAP... but making us wait forever is business as usual.... for almost all carriers and phones. I check this thread for news.

And this whole EVO LTE true successor business is the funniest nonsense I ever heard. EVO < 3d < LTE < Next years evo. I think its funny that people think they got ripped off by not having a kickstand.... when they knew they werent getting a kickstand when they bought it. If it's that big a deal for you, by the case that has one. Clearly HTC marketed the 3D very poorly (as previously discussed), but that has little or no baring on the people who actually bought the phone. It works really well, I don't care that HTC minimized their own sales.

I think anyone feels screwed over by their upgrade to this phone and no WiMax should complain to Sprint. Stay polite but firm, and keep insisting on talking to managers up the line. You never know. Just my opinion, I would leave ICS and EOL out of the discussion. EOL happens sooner or later to every phone so I don't think that they'll be sympathetic to that. ICS won't get you LTE, so that is liable to confuse them. Maybe best to say that you got screwed if that's how you feel rather than we all got screwed. Just my opinions, best luck.

Corpse11 - if the USA gets any Samsung at the same time as the European release, that will be a first. If it comes to Sprint first in the US, with our CDMA radios as opposed to the world standard GSM ones, that will be another first.

I guess we use ours differently, I have used an HTC with Macs since the Evo launch and I'm not having any issues. Not sure that will be true with an SGS3. Best luck with whatever you decide, drop me a line if you want to chat about Mac/HTC stuff.

Ditto. Though if ICS works fine on the EVO 3D, I'll stick with this till LTE detailed plans are finalized and publicized (to see coverage in my area).

Could we possibly make the suggestion that if people are frustrated/unhappy with Sprint for a variety of reasons (ICS Upgrade, Wimax transition to LTE, Upgrades, etc) that those go into their own thread? That way this thread is more focused on what the latest/greatest is in terms of when we may get ICS and doesn't get bogged down with side chatter and complaints that rapidly spiral out of control.

Personally, it is frustrating to me when I check this thread that I have to read through 3+ pages of posts only to see 2 new updates mentioning nothing new yet. Would be easier if new posts to this thread were geared towards when we may get ICS and projected dates, where complaints with Sprint go into a seperate thread.

Just a request / suggestion.

I haven't played with the ROM with Sense 4.0 built into it, but I have played with ICS ROMs. Here's what's different:

When you hold down the home button, it gives you a popup and a preview pane of what each app is doing. If you have a Honeycomb tablet, it's very similar, except you can swipe to clear in ICS.

GTalk lets you have more than 1 account active at a time.

Face unlock.

Gmail has a new UI. It looks like it does on the web client.

An improved Browser. Much improved, but third party browsers (IE Boat, Opera) still beat it, IMO. Including Google's own Chrome Beta browser (which is actually pretty snazy).

That's about it with things you can see. A lot of things got tweaked 'under the hood' for performance and system operation. Which is, apparently, what is causing the huge delay. It's like the transition from XP to Vista. Drivers have to be re-written, bug squashing, etc. Apparently the APIs got altered in some really significant ways for ICS. Even CyanogenMod 9 hasn't officially been released. And they, too, have been working on it since the source was released in late November. Granted, most of them have day jobs.

Is ICS a good upgrade? Yep. But nothing to fawn over. I've downgraded my phone back to a Gingerbread ROM and am thinking about downgrading my tablet back to HC while the bugs are worked out of these beta versions of CM9. The poor little Tegra2 in my tablet cant keep up with the leaked copy of ICS that Acer has made, either.

So I guess the only real acceptable reply to this thread would be to post the actual date 3VO will be getting ICS. Anything else at this point would be irrelevant much like the entire thread with the exception of "we'll get it, be patient".

I'm just commenting on the whole thread derailment about not being happy with the EVO 3D and/or Sprint. We do have a thread, http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/502741-still-happy-evo-3d-3.html#post4287042 that all those posts fit into perfectly.

Anyways, I saw that the SGII official ICS update leaked today. Not that it has any relevance to the EVO 3D getting ICS, it just reminded me that it might be out soon. I'm in no rush though.

Does anyone know if ICS fixes the blurry contact pictures? I sync everything with gmail and I know the gmail icons are what shrinks the picture down, I just remember reading people having issues with that on 4.0

I'm with you, I have a Mac but still not sure about the iphone yet, I do know for sure my next phone will not be a HTC, unless I get a great deal from Rogers (also thinking about getting rid of them too)..

In my opinion the evo 3d is dead, it was a good try but to not support a "flagship" phone with the first big update after its release is ******ed.. I've tested a few ICS over at XDA, they work great and fast (without camera), theres no reason for us not to have ICS on our phones right now.

Lol, funny, one of the reason why I got rid of my x10 a year or so ago was because sony was one of if not the last phone company to update their phones. I'm not sure if you guys remember the survey they sent to the xperia x10 owners, I pretty much blasted them then sold the phone, remember updates was only one of the reason.... lol too funny.. wait they mentioned the tablet not the phone..

I'll be honest I don't mind not having the quad core, the dev wont or aren't utilizing it in the tablets that have it anyway, a quick duel core with with better camera ( the one x is on the right track) and (cross my fingers) more efficient battery consumption would be nice.. The main thing that bugs me with HTC is they rolled out the Evo 3D big it up then put it in a box and forgot about it, I truly think the evo "3d" is dead, it was a nice try, if they roll out ICS for the evo 3d and said sorry the 3d camera is a no go I'd be cool with that. I got this phone for the duel core and 1gb ram, if I remember right it was one the first if not the first, the 3D was a bonus I only used three times tops.. If they're going to kill the 3D just do it and move on.

Like I said I've tried some of the beta roms of ICS with and without sense4 on the evo 3d and they work great just no camera, give me my camera and video and I'm cool,.. 3D can burn for now for all I care, just my opinion.

The 3D was never a selling point for me either, our phone was the best at the time...period. The processor was the best on the market, the 1GB of ram, screen res, everything. Thats why I got it, and to be honest...it still performs just as good, if still not better than a lot of the newer phones. I just picked up a Galaxy Nexus for another phone number, and to be honest. Just running Go Launcher Ex makes my 3D and the Galaxy Nexus very similar as far as "look" is concerned. Yes, the data is a lot slower on the Galaxy Nexus (no LTE service in Los Angeles yet, but they just put us at priority 1 on the list of cities) but "phone" performance is almost the same. ICS is a little faster, and has some cool extra features...but its not a HUGE leap to be honest.

Looks like the HTC sensation is scheduled to get the ICS update on June 16th... hope the EVO 3D doesn't get that delayed...

In the business aspect of things..I think it will be awhile before we see the update. Sprint is so busy right now starting up and launching their LTE network and pushing to get more licenses on LTE phones, that they've pretty much thrown WiMax and WiMax devices on hold until its all taken care of.

I've had a Galaxy Nexus since the day they came out (last monday) and I've already gotten a few network and software update notifications to fix things on the Sprint Network. So I'm taking this as a sign that they are putting all their efforts into LTE right now, and ICS and older devices have taken a backseat. Also, they are pushing the release of the EVO LTE up as well...so I'm not expecting this update anytime soon anymore. If it happens, I'm sure it will be around the same time, if not after the release of the EVO LTE or the launch of Sprints LTE network and they can have time to do other things again.
