Root [CDMA] [Solved w/ root] HTC EVO 3D Flashed not Rooted Voicemail not working

If you have a third party sms app installed, like Handcent for example (I use that one) and it's set to take over all MMS by default, then that will totally bork your voicemail.

The way you can tell is that instead of voicemail, you'll get an SMS to call some Sprint number and when you do, none of your options will make sense.

If that's not happening, scratch my idea.

For whatever reason I cannot get Google voice, handcent, youmail working on my HTC EVO 3D to recieve voice mail notifications, so after reading all kinds of forums and fixes, and watching youtube videos, this is what I have uncovered. My problem started when I had the place where I bought the phone flash it to boost, and NOT Root it. The problem is you CANNOT use the native voice mail notifier on a HTC EVO 3D that is ONLY flashed, it MUST be rooted also, because (and only until recently) the new custom Roms have the voice mail and sprint hot spot fix in them. Then not only does the native voicemail notifier work but you also can use sprint wifi hot spot WITHOUT having to tether your HTC EVO 3D. But however if there are other forum members like myself who cant afford (not money but time) away from my phone to have someone else root and re flash it to boost, I found a temporary fix. There used to be a app on android market called voicemail notifier, but for whatever reason was taken off. Well I found it and it works great, simple and now when a voicemail is left I am alerted right away almost no delay. So until I can be without my EVO 3D for a couple days to have it rooted and re flashed this is the best temporary fix I can provide to my other forum members. Thanks to all the members feedback and help with this problem.

Glad you got that solved! :)

Ok, I know your heart is in the right place, and I am not coming down on you - but, I gotta be that guy -

For whatever reason, Voicemail Notifier was removed from the Market - I've searched, and I don't know what the issue was: legal, unsecure, copyright, who knows?

But Google had their reasons, and because we are more cautious than other sites, I've had to remove your attachment for that app.

However, if others have this issue, maybe it would be ok for them to PM you and discuss, as maybe later you'll come to hate that app or maybe you'll still endorse it.

If I can find a reason for Google pulling it that doesn't conflict with our site rules, I'll be the first to say, please re-add your attachment.

Many thanks for working with me on this! :)

No Problem, I did the same research as you and could not find any "negative" reason Google pulled it. I did all the usual scans with 3 different antivirus and malware programs, and found no issues. But I respect your decision and anyone who would like the file can PM me anytime to discuss it, and hopefully after you do some more digging I can re post the attachment, and for the record I am luving the app, has pushed every single voice mail to my EVO 3D no issues. Thanks

As an update to this thread, I have found another app on the Market which not only will push all voice mails through, but also lets you customize missed calls and sms. I actually gave the Dev some input for one of his updates ( my honor) which he actually used. It is called MMA (missed message alerts) and please if you like it feel free to support the Dev, he responds quickly and appreciates all feedback.

If you read the entire thread you will notice I had tried all of those 3rd party apps. Remember i am Flashed to Boost Mobile Network and Rooted, and so far there is no "native" voice mail fix for my EVO 3D the way it is set up now. But MMA on the marketplace will push voice mail notifications through. LOL thanks DonB I was replying same time you were!! I love this Forum you Guides and Moderators are on top of your game!!

The native voicemail app doesn't work after all the firmware updates and such? :(

For those who don't realize, I walked him through how to flash a RUU...you can't get OTAs for the Evo 3D on Boost, yet...Maybe after Boost/VM take over it and name it the Evo V it would have been available.

No, after the updates, the visual voice mail showed back up, but that is a sprint voice mail service, and because I am flashed to boost it wont work. So what I need is a native voice mail fix for being on the boost network. As you know that is out of my realm (for now). I read on XDA's site a few threads for native voice mail fixes that supposedly work for boost, but the thread creator was the only one who said his worked, all others trying his process could not get their native voice mails to work. I am still searching, I cant assume it would be to long before someone has a fix.

As an update to the voicemail fix for HTC EVO 3D flashed to Boost... The above link is for a phone.apk patch that is for the previous 1.13 build. I am attaching a new link that gives you an updated phone.apk for the new 2.17 build. I am running a stock kernel with a custom ROM and when I used the above apk it really hosed my phone. So if anyone else has had problems with the above link the new link has the new apk.

Hello all.. I too dont have voicemail notification, I had it flashed by a company.. I have a HTC Evo 3D flashed to Metro PCS..I been reading, looking for a fix but most fixes i am seeing are for flashed to Boost mobile problems..

I tried to put a usb and enter the phone but it is asking me to put in disk it came with, otherwise i cant enter the phone to look around.. I want to also remove a banner left by the flashing company..

Thanks for any help..
