Help Storage Failure error in link2sd

I am trying to get more internal storage space and am having an issue. First off, my phone is rooted and I have been using link2sd from the beginning. I was reading the forums and noted that my davlik cache could be the problem and upon further research noted that even though my apps are on my sd card (at least link2sd says so), I need to create a symbolik link in order to move the davlik cache. When I go to create the link, I get an error message that states:

Failure ..... Install_Failed_Insufficient_Storage.

It's a 4gb card and I don't have that many apps. I did partition the card in the beginning. I downloaded the Quick System Info app and it says I have 2.05 gb of free SD card storage and 1.29 gb free of Secondary SD storage. Does anyone have any ideas as to why I'm receiving the error message when trying to create the link and move the davlik cache? Thanks in advance!

not sure why you would get that error, but have you considered switching to a ROM with a built in app2sd kernel. (if you like the feel of stock, you can use half-ass ROM it's stock designed to work with koumakernel)

Can you give me a link to the nfo and a download for that ROM? I haven't switched to a custom ROM because I don't much about them and that makes me a little uncomfortable, but I'm willing to learn.

Well first you need cwm (ClockWorkMod recovery)
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...m-recovery-utility-update-01-12-12-fixed.html
Then you need to dl and install halfass ROM
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...2-rom-gb-2-3-6-halfassrom-1-0-stock-ext4.html
Then kouma kernel
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/429740-kernel-gb-koumakernel-2-2-a.html

Each link has specific institutions on how to install. If you have any questions please post them in the thread related to your problem... And don't worry is all super easy... :)

Modding the prevail for dummies

I'm not one for self promotion, but it seems suitable at the moment

And to clarify in case you are wondering, HalfAssRom is about as stock android as you can get and still run koumamod, while CTmod is highly optimized and uses the fastest system apps from other sources, a different launcher, and a bunch of tweaks

A couple of quick questions (and I hope they don't sound too dumb) before I get started on this journey this afternoon:

1. How can I find out if I already have ClockWorldMod? I rooted the phone previously and did something when that FA19 update came in awhile back and am not really sure if I already have CWM or not. Like I said, hope that doesn't sound dumb!!

2. Do I need to return my phone to factory in order to do this, or just go with it as the phone is now?

Thanks again!!!!

hold vol up + power until the phone boots into recovery. If it says "Clockwork Mod Recovery" you're good to go

2. Do I need to return my phone to factory in order to do this, or just go with it as the phone is now?
installing a new ROM will wipe your data, so yes, you will be wiping data
Thanks again!!!!

Updated CWM, installed half ass rom and koumakernal--everything went very smoothly and it worked like a charm!! I used mybackuppro to back up everything beforehand to my sd card and then my computer and afterward all data and apps restored very nicely. The only time consuming part was reinstalling my apps from the market. I am still using link2sd and it is creating links now. There was one hitch when I first tried to link an app in which it acted like my sd card wasn't partitioned, but I just uninstalled and reinstalled link2sd and chose the partition as Fat32 and it worked after that. I would have and did try to use darktremors' a2sd, but it stated that my sd didn't have a partition and that my phone is not rooted, both of which are untrue. At that point, at about 2 a.m., I was too tired to figure it out! lol Anyway, thanks again for all of your assistance!!

You don't need Link2sd with koumakernel anymore, its included in the kernel now. All you have to do is flash the koumamod.apk listed near the top of the koumakernel post, open it like an app, and change it to Data, and reboot. It will mount the SD-ext partition as internal memory, no link2sd needed at all.

Don't try it until you repartition the SD card back to its original filesystem and reinstall koumakernel. Thats why kouma made halfassrom, so his kernel would work on a stock based rom.

Ok, I already have CWM v5.0.2.6. Now, is there a simple and quick way to back up all of my data before I wipe it out?? Thank you again for imparting your valuable knowledge to me!!

boot into recovery, select backup and restore, select backup. The backup file is saved in the clockworkmod folder on the SD card. Make sure to move it to your computer before reformatting your SD card (learned from experience)
