As far as i know, and have tried the last few days, you cannot transfer files between other mobiles via bluetooth. I have tried today from my sons mobile (nokia n85) to my Hero, the Nokia finds the Hero but then fails to send. I also tried to send from Hero to Nokia but would not work I have however managed to connect it to my bluetooth stereo lol!

RECEIVING FILES REQUIRES ROOT, SENDING WORKS WITHOUT IT

So, you bought the phone and you found out that it cannot do a simple task as sharing via BT. Duh!
This app comes to the rescue. It lets you send and receive files to/from other phones and devices that use the standard Obex Push protocol.

Not All machines are created equal ... The OBEX drivers are not necessarily the same ... I had two different results from computers running XP Pro ... so
your results will probably vary depending on the specific machine and the obex drivers installed ...

Maybe you dont have access to all the Paid Apps.. I dont know of any other ..

I solved the problem by installing the SwiFTP server. I only wanted the bluetooth to transfer files from my computer. This does the job fine.

Hi Guys,

I have an HTC Magic and the Bluetooth file transfer software from Medieval. I have only ever installed software direct from the online Mark. Can someone please tell me how I actually install this app on the phone manually? The files are on the phone but I cannot locate them on it. I know where I put them but just cannot find them when I try to navigate on the phone itself.

Yep I just downloaded it from Market and it says we need 2.0 or higher
for this to work on the Hero.
Oh well.

same here...e-mailed htc to see when it was getting released...got a reply back saying we're working on it...but can't tell you when it will be released..hope this is of help to you...
i e-mailed back saying ..no..not really as you haven't really told me anything..lol..
then i got told the usual...connect through your p.c...or e-mail...not any help 'cos the person that i was trying to send stuff to is a dinosaur...never used a p.c. in his life...so i'll just have to wait for upgrade.
