I would just like to make a plea for people with new news to start a new thread with that new news.

When I read a newspaper, I do not read the entire paper, I scan the headlines and then read the articles that interest me, same with a news website, etc. I think many people are like me and do not have the time to weed through a thread with over 100 pages in it. Sometimes I try to go to the last page, but on days with major news, its hard to find where it starts and what it is actually about.

Heaven forbid I want to go back and reread something I have read before. Finding some older news is impossible. Topics on the official thread are all over the place, sometimes several topics going on at one time over multiple - multiple pages.

I appreciate all the info that gets passed along here, I have been hanging on since November, but since this new official incredible thread has started, I think I miss more than I see. I am finding that I am going to other websites first because I know most everywhere else, I can find what I am looking for fast.

Please do not disregard my request without thought. I can't be the only one in this boat, longing for new news or rumors but struggling to find it or keep up.

If I am the only one who has this opinion, then oh well.

Thanks
Adrian

Anonimac does a great job keeping the first post in the thread updated with confirmed specs. I suggest you check there.

yes yes he does lets just keep it to one thread so we dont have to read 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 different threads to find the new news... just read one. When official info comes from vzw make all the threads our hearts desire for discussions on different aspects

What you are missing is that we won't read #2, #5, #8, or #10 past the first day. We will go back to #6 once a week for the next 3 months to reread something or to see what has developed there. #7 will get off topic with something not related at all and we'll never go back. The other threads we will check daily, maybe several times a day without having to go through all the junk that is just junk. I'm not saying bust everything into minor sub atomic particles. Most every news organization in the world works with different headlines for different news. When official news comes from VZW for your hearts desire, that would be one thread, easy to follow, not part of a 15 topic discussion all happening at the same time like those chicks on the view.

For the regulars of the Incredible thread, does this "reason" sound VERY familiar to a few other people in our thread? *Ahem "Mr. my time is worth $5000/hr"

If you only want to read headlines, just stick to tech blogs/sites that will give you that. A forum is not ideal for your preference.

I don't have any idea what you are talking about.

Am I the only one who feels this way? - Looks like it.

Most of the forums in exactly the ideal way for my preference. The Passion forum was easy to keep up with.

The Passion forum was a f&%@ing mess! We have done things differently and much better since we moved to the HTC Incredible sub-forum. I vote NO.

^ You are more than welcomed to make threads as you see fit, however, I do believe most of us prefer our current format UNTIL the phone is released - at which point, we may all have different issues to discuss.

My problem is that I do not have anything to contribute and therefore do not really have a voice. I have nothing of interest to add or start. I don't have any sources, don't understand all the FCC lingo and Techie lingo. I am here to learn and have learned a lot. For that I am thankful. This is the first thread I have ever started. I am just a lurker.

Just to be sure that I am spoke correctly, I would not want one news story split into many different thread. But when that news ends and a new story begins, that is where I would like a new heading.

2 weeks from now, if I want to reread something from today, I wish I could do that, as I can do on the other forums, but it will be buried deep somewhere and I will not be able to find it.

I see I am alone, but I disagree. When you and Newsradio got on your discussions, I just left that thread, because it did not interest me. I now do not have that choice. Its all or none and I am not able to keep up anymore. On the passion forum, I could keep up easily.

Maybe if I spent more time here, coming several times a day like some people can, I would better understand and perhaps also see it as a mess instead of better organized.

Looks like 4 or 5 no to my lone yes.

I really respect the effort Flapjack. For better or worse, the news over the past week or so has brought a ton of new posters into that thread. Some have great insights but some feel the need to say something every other post just to get their count up without saying anything of value. I loved the thread up until about a week ago and now I just can't commit to reading the 5 new pages over the last hour to keep up. Then when people ask a question, the answer is "we talked about that like 8 pages ago, go read that first d-bag" Actually I kid about the d-bag comment, its been a very civil forum for how big it is. Hopefully when we get closer to release we'll see more fragmentation but I think the snowball that is that thread is too big to stop now. I'll give you a virtual high-five for putting yourself out there.

Agreed. I dont think its a bad idea. Not everyone has time to stay on this forum all day long waiting for the next post to come. I feel it would be valuable to have a thread dedictated to the new news that comes out and keeping the convos to another. This way for the people that this site does not consume their lives can stay updated and continue anticipating the launch of something very exciting. Isn't that the main reason we come here? I understand the updating of the first page of the "official" thread but feel there is nothing wrong with asking for this simple request either. And if someone asks a question about the phone dont tell them its already been covered!! Either dont reply or answer the question...really is there a need to be a jack@$$?

You're pulling out a double edged sword here. You're complaining that the thread is too hard to follow - which has ALOT to do with people asking the same questions over, and over, and over again, yet you still want to do it and expect it not to clutter the thread. Can't have it both ways.

I think it would be smarter if we had a thread that pulls all the important posts into it rather than sifting through thousands of posts to find something that is actually useful.
I agree 100% with the 1st post. I feel that the "official" thread fails to inform people and thus we have the same questions asked over and over and over again. You can even see the frustration of some people in that thread when they read the same question that might have been asked the page before.

As mentioned before, our original poster of that thread has done a TERRIFIC job consolidating ALL useful/relevant information from the thread. All you have to do is check the first post of the thread if you want the most accurate, up-to-date facts about the phone.

You know, there's no reason it can't be both ways. Those who are fond of the ginormous canonical thread can continue chatting and trading info there. And when some really big news finally comes along, I suspect it'll get it's own thread instantly.

Every time I log on I look for a new thread with a title like "FINALLY, a release date!", or similar. Any day now... I can FEEL it.

To be honest from our (mods) point of view it's not like this forum is spiralling out of control, and yes, we would like to keep it that way. If a big piece of news pops up like an official announcement, a leak of new photos or videos, it can have it's own thread, but for general discussion if we could keep it to the main thread for now, that would help keep this place tidy. I'm not going to start locking and closing new threads, as long as it stays tidy, and we don't get a ton of duplicate information.

The problem with the passion forum was that some many different groups of people were using it to discuss so many different phones (nexus one, bravo, incredible, supersonic e.t.c)

Thank you. That is exactly what I would hope for. New post for breaking news, a leaked photo or video, and a minor amount of discussion pertianing to that topic. The general discussion could stay whereever you want it.

People keep claiming the Passion forum was a mess. I understand the problems your description and I can see how that could be a problem for a moderator. It was no problem for me, I could just choose what to read and what not to, but I do understand.

For me, one long forum where only a few people know what information is included, is a much bigger mess than off topic threads.

Unofficially, it looks like so far that 4 people are firm no and have strong opinions that the thread should stay as is. Looks like 5 people would prefer new threads with new news, and a couple of others who offer advice but no opinion. - So about even.

Thanks
Adrian

No thats not what im saying at all. i am just saying that the official is great for common chatter about the topic and that a new thread talking about the great "new" news that has come in has its place also. no double edged sword....just if someone ask a question there is no need to be rude to them by saying we have already covered it and you need to read the last 10 pages...that takes longer than saying we have a new thread for that check it out! And what "clutters" the thread is off topic convos about how fast somesones car will go and can i take your daughter out... I say go for the "New" News page!

No one is being rude. You are reading too much into peoples posts. If they tell you to look back at the past pages, then obviously that is your best bet in finding the answer to your question. They are not insulting you, demeaning you, or anything in that fashion so don't put intentions behind wording. You are more than welcomed to make new threads, but realize that the people that are spending their time trying to find and post new info feel more comfortable posting in the Official thread. Once the phone is officially released, you will see numerous new threads that are much more specific.

I think it was Nash that gave great insight on how to dig up useful info: look for posts that have "Thanks" to them as they tend to contain something relevant to the topic at hand. I have done that in times where I was pushed on time and it has worked fine for me.

Edit: Take note that people can easily just ignore your posts in that thread making it lost in the hundreds of pages (leaving you with no answer at all), however they take the time to acknowledge that it has been covered thoroughly with very good insight. Unfortunately, most the people that are lobbying for new threads are due to their own laziness (NOT saying that it is any of you in this thread however I can go through the last few pages of the Official thread and can find you posts literally saying "I dont feel like reading all those pages."), and if that is the case, then obviously you don't want to know the most up-to-date information nor have the same passion in the phone as the rest of us.

I'll leave it at that, as I think were just peddling in mud since nothing will probably be done, and things will most likely stay the way they are, until the phone is close to release anyways.
