I've had the lg Spectrum for a week and it seemed fine. Last night I plugged it in to charge, woke up this morning and turned it on and it wouldn't turn on. I tried plugging in the charger and all that happens s the bottom home symbol and back symbol buttons flash over and over. I plugged it into the usb on my laptop and same thing.

This phone hasn't been dropped or had anything traumatic whatsoever happen to it. I also tried taking out the battery and putting it back in. Same exact thing happens. Would appreciate any help!

Ok, well, one of two things probably happened. Either your phone is completely out of juice to the point that it can't even power on to start charging, or your something went wrong in your system.

I'm going to go with probability 1 thou. If possible, find a 1.5 or 2amp USB wa;; adapter and see if that will provide enough power to charge your phone and allow it to boot. A .5 or 1 amp may not be providing enough to get it past the initial boot up process.

If that doesn't work, you will need to take it back to Verizon and see what they can do for you.

P.S.:
This seems to be the common fault indicator on LG phones for the battery being to low to boot

Oddly enough, I just encountered this. My phone was @ 40% or so and plugged into my PC. I tried to get it to sync with my VM box, but the driver wouldn't load. The screen went back and it won't turn on. I highly doubt the battery was drained, but I've plugged it in and it hasn't gained any charge... at least, not enough to turn on.

<-- not pleased.

I have had this happen twice this week, just got phone on Sat. I was able to pull the battery, leave it out about 2 minutes, and reload, and it came up fine.

Mine does it when I charge over night and disconnect it in the morning. The 'no signal' bar has a red X and no bars, and it seems to be trying to reboot.

I'm using a charger that came with another phone so I will check the amp rating. I did notice that it seems to be very slow to charge.

I need some help. Phone is rooted with 1.1 rom been running it for 24 hours no issues.
I have the extended battery well I was sitting there watching tv and it died and turned off ( battery went dead ) so I pluged it in well the lights started to flash like they do when the battery is to dead and phone wont turn on. I wanted to check something so I got my old standard battey and put it in ( I used it last night and it had 50% when I pulled it out ) No nothing happens when I plug the phone in no lights nothing. Phone will not go into download mode. Phone was running great before battery died I have had this phone for about 3 weeks now. I have tried 3 different chargers and 2 different batterys now phone has been on charger for 30+ mins and still nothing. Any one have any ideas as to what could of happened? Just weird for it to mess up when the battery died. Am I going to get screwed out of my warranty since the phone is rooted or since it wont even turn on are they going to be able to tell?
Thanks in advance. Just saw they came out with 1.2 rom wanting to try that out.

Had the blinking situation happen too. It happened to me after I quickly pressed the power button 3 times accidentally.

I pulled the battery for 8 hours (sleep) and plugged it into a different wall charger in the morning. It powered on no problem after a few seconds and I haven't had any problems since.

I've noticed the freezing seems to not power on after i press the power button multiple times pretty quickly as well. Usually end up having to pull the battery.

when i press the button, it's one of those situations where i hit it to look at something then bumped it off by mistake then need it back on.

If i let it sit for 20 minutes it seems to unlock itself as well.

My phone is now doing this same thing.

I only had about 15% battery left, so I plugged it in to charge. I then noticed that the phone wasn't charging and that it was flashing the three buttons at the bottom. When I went to pick it up, it was HOT. I immediately took the battery out and let it sit out for about 30 minutes, and then I tried to charge it again. The same thing happened again.

How can I solve this problem?

get a new one.

Call verizon tech support and let them go through their little whatevers and at the end of it they will send you another phone.

I wish I could! This phone is new and is a replacement after a bunch of other issues.

I got an LG Revolution in October. By February, it wouldn't charge. So, Verizon replaced it with another Revolution. By April, that one wouldn't charge, either. So, Verizon replaced it with the Spectrum (I had to pay an upgrade fee, but that's fine!). So, this is phone number 3 in seven months. :( :(

so. You still have a one year replacement warranty. and since you upgraded that started from when you bought the spectrum. There's no limit on how many you can get.

Also I can't imagine someone having 3 phones in a row do that. You may have some sort of electrical issue in your house causing it. but the odds of the same issue happening to the same person 3 times in a row or 2 different phones is pretty slim. You are either doing something to cause this, or you have an issue with your electrical system in your home.

let the phone on charge for about ten minutes with the lights flashing. after that remove the battery and charging cord, then plug in charger without the battery then place battery in the phone then press the power button

Uh, I would NEVER put the battery in the phone while it was plugged in, LIon batteries can explode you know.

The turn-off/blinking home buttons has happened to me two separate times while doing graphically intensive things (see games) while plugged into a cheap-o 3rd party charger I had laying around.

I pulled the plug, pulled the battery, waited 5 minutes, and put it all back together again. After two minutes or so of blinking buttons the phone comes on and all's well.

After the second time this scenario happened, I threw the lousy charger away and it hasn't happened since.

Lesson Learned: Use OEM chargers and/or high quality ones.

I have about my Spectrum for about 2 months now. Two weeks ago it died one night, charged it up all night and it wouldn't turn on. Went to the store and they replaced the battery with a new one. It worked fine for a few days and last week I took it into the store because it was not charging properly. Was on a charger from about 8pm to 5pm the next day and only about half way charged. The girl at the store said that is pretty good for a 4G phone. Seriously? She offered to replace it but it was going to be with a refurbished phone. I decided to keep using it after she gave me some tips. It died last night and I put it on the charger over night and it won't turn on now. Any thoughts as to why? If I can't get it to turn back on, I am going to go into the store. I had a Droid X previously for several years and didn't have near as many issues as I am with the Spectrum.

You have a defective phone. Get the refurbished one. Don't be worried about refurbished phones they are just as good as new. I've had very nice refurbished stuff. I got a refurbished Droid charge and it was better than my new one.

I had the exact same problem. I found a quick fix for me that worked pretty well. I looked for another usb adapter and found my ipad charger. I tested it and it immediately fixed the problem. Verizon seems to have great service with replacing the phone though. I also found power adapters to buy online that other people could get if there charger wasn't working. I hoped this helped :D

I just ended up doing this with the GF's spectrum tonight. I didn't have to wait thou. The bottom row blinked after she let the battery get to zero. I pulled the battery and USB cord, plugged the cord back in, then popped in the battery. It booted into charge only mode. Once I got enough of a charge on it to reboot I removed the program that kept crashing and keeping her screen constantly on. Hopefully this will be the end of that problem.
