For iPHONE Converts

I meant that you now have a fairly organised way to access content, plus Drive is a good competitor to iCloud etc.

If anyone had big reasons not to swap from an iPhone to Android, they're becoming fewer every day.

Obviously it's different if you've invested loads of money buying apps that you'd have to purchase again - but many people get free apps, or 'freemium' ones these days anyway.

Thanks for the detailed response s.m.knipe. I have gone ahead and made the changes you suggested and everything is working beautifully.

On a similar topic: My phone is an Australian Optus branded phone which came bundled with a lot of useless Optus bloatware. I couldn't uninstall the bloatware so I just disabled the applications. Is that OK, or should I re-enable the applications and just trying to hide them in a folder (or something similar)?

MIne is also an Australian branded Optus phone so I am also interested in whether I should dis-able them or not.
Just wondering, have you had notification of the new update yet?? I haven't.

Excellent, glad to hear it! Which app did you choose to use, out of curiosity?

You should be okay disabling them, as they are usually just add-ons the carrier does to the final software versions just prior to public release, so they should not be necessary for anything. I usually disable mine (Stateside) except AT&T's wifi and "myAccount" type apps- the free wifi auto-connect is super nice while travelling (no annoying agree to terms splash pages every time you open your browser) and their account app is actually decent.

Im glad i switched from iphone to android. Love the forums. Love the os. Takes some getting use to!!! Wish id made the switch earlier.
Great! There is a bit of a learning curve, but it is just a different way of answering the same questions/problems as iOS.

I ended up going with the Gmail app. There is nothing wrong with the other Mail app, but I thought Gmail might be a better option with the recent release of the new Google Drive service.

Going with the Gmail app is the most simple and elegant solution when it is a Gmail account, so that is good.

Let us know if you notice any "wonkiness" with your device after disabling the bloatware apps- if you disable them. It'd be interesting to see if the carriers try to tie them to the UI/OS (and make them a "core" app)- although it would be stupid on their part; leaving them as standalone apps allows them to code the apps once and plop on all their devices, creating dependencies to their apps mean that each device will have to have them modified for it.

With all phones come issue! I wish it was perfect, but in the beginning stages of a newly released phone (apple, motorola, lg, samsung, nokia are no exception) issue are guaranteed to arise! But have no fear, AF Forums is here! If anyone can provide assistance WE will!

If u like Listening to music in particular your iTunes library if you have one, converting to Android is like becoming a vegetarian.

I support Android's open platform over Apple's closed closed iTunes but still need my daily music protein and Android's buggy (closed) Amazon App is like dry tofu to a juicy steak when compared to iTunes.

Thanks for your thoughts here...

I feel it is less a matter of like and more about usability...

Aside from the fact that im used to an Iphone >

I switch on an Iphone and go to write a message... 99% accuracy at speed...

I switch on HTC one X and go to write a message... Accuracy and speed decline significantly... Actually the whole experience sucked...

In my case... It would appear that the smaller buttons on the iphone improves my accuracy and speed...

Eitherway Im becoming obsessed with this keyboard thing... Its not going to fix itself so Ill head off now and find something more suitable...

Oh yeah... And im sooooooooo finding this thing buggy... Awesome screen though... im really liking this aspect...

totally agree with the above and like to add the Android to appear in many respects a Beta copy of a first release of iOS.

Wow I don't get this at all. I've used all iterations of the iPhone (I do like it, not a hater at all) but I don't find any issues using an ANdroid phone for music. In fact, my Nexus sounds BETTER than my iPhone did. If you're having trouble transferring music, you're just not looking hard enough because there are a billion EASY ways to get iTunes music on your Android (I"m an iTunes user, so I know what I'm talking about).

Dont let the "problem" posts concern you. You have to remember that when reading a forum meant for SUPPORT of a device, naturally you're going to attract people who are having issues. I don't think forums are a good reflection on how well any given device performs because it's such a tiny, tiny representative of owners. Even the (in)famous iPhone antennagate was much ado about nothing for the vast majority of iPhone owners.

Hmmmmmm...

The ring pull is locked again... When I touch the screeen the ring does not respond ... However when i remove my finger from the screen the ring does a little jump... And the message flashes up the top "Pull the ring to unlock"

I can touch it anywhere on the screen to do this... The ring does not respond to my initial contact with the screen... Only when I break contact...

I had this problem today, it's the first time it's happened since I got the phone a couple of weeks or so ago. I had to reset the phone to get it working again so, I'm guessing this is a software problem.

Hey guys,
New here and I have a questions for those that used to have an iphone.
I currently have a 3Gs, with unlimited data plan.
I've been looking (online I mean) at the HOX for a while now, and played with one at the ATT store the other day. Was pretty impressed, and seriously thinking of switching.
Just 2 things bothering me with the ATT version of the phone:
- The 16Gb storage. I currently have 32Gb on my iphone, my music alone is 16Gb. But with the Google drive I think it may not necessary be a problem
- The unlimited plan that I wish I could keep (even though I am not a 'heavy user', it's mainly a worry free issue), because of the music streaming (see#1 :D)

Still, here's my question:
When I go on att website and do the upgrade phone, picking the HOX, then I have to choose a data plan. Well, it shows a couple of Unlimited plan
But I thought they were over, that it was either 3 or 5Gb??
So is it a mistake on att website or is it still possible to get unlimited plan?

I guess I'll stop by a store sometime to make sure, just wanted to check if any of you noticed that.
Thanks! :)

I'll reply to myself since I'm just out of ATT store:
Yes, because it's an upgrade, I can keep the unlimited data plan that I thought I will loose
So I ordered my HOX, will have it either tomorrow, most probably Friday.
Happy right now

update on the itune music sync.

Long story short, i've practically tried ALL (20+) the music app/apk, free, trial or paid ones.
i must say that there is no FREE (and Painless) way to sync your itune music and HTC ONE X flawlessly and perfectly, not poweramp, not doubletwist.

Now, if you are willing to "PAY", then all you need is ISYNCR.

the end.
sad ending i know. lol.

I uploaded my itunes to Google play, i can stream my music and it's free. The HTC program also allows you to sync your itunes by just checking a few boxes, frankly i was amazed at how easy it was to get my itunes to work. The best part about streaming it thru google play, no memory used on my phone and unlike apple's match service it's free :D
