Hi everyone! i am knew, i know another noob... :( sorry to make you pull your hair out at my dumbness.

So i am not super Tech savy, but if i have some directions i can usually do the task correctly :p

But here is some info from my phone, Most of which i dont know what it means,

I have rooted it(atleast i think i did) once before Using Oneclick Root,
I have SuperUser, Su Update Fixer, Titanium Backup on the phone
I keep getting this Notification to install this FA19 bug fix I let my battery charge, and nothing.

So essentially i want to. bring the phone back to stock with the Bugfix installed already. Then Re root the phone. so it works good as new and better. that said i have a few questions....

1.What is Odin? can someone link me to a dl?
2.Is there a version for the prevail with the FA19 fix? may i have a link
3.Can someone link or supply me with a list of anything and everything i can Safely Delete off the phone for more room?
4. is there a program that can force programs to go on the micro sd. and not the phone?

My phone info:
SpH-M820-BST
2.3.5
Baseband version
s:m820.7xEj06
Kernel version
2.6.35.7
build number
Gingerbread.Ej06
Hardware
M820.07

Thank anyone and everyone for there help. sorry again.

dont beat your self up bro..the only way to get support here is by asking questions when your not sure what to do..everyone here has been that noob who asks those questions..that being said

if i understand correctly you are wanting to install the FA19 bug fix update but want root too..which isnt available right now

You have a few options

1-stock non rooted EJ06
2-Stock rooted EJ06
3-Stock non rooted FA19
4-Stock rooted FA19

both of the FA19 images that we have available are pre bug fix release..meaning the images were made right when the original FA19 was released..long before anyone knew there were all kinds of things jacked up with it..and long before boost decided to push out the next update to fix the original FA19 release..So you could Odin to FA19 rooted and use that..knowing that there are a certain number or claimed problems with it..or you could Odin back to EJ06 which is pretty much the fail safe non bug no issue baseband that we have used for quite a while...If you go with FA19 rooted image i dont think you will be able to update to boost's new FA19 bug fix update that they are pushing with out breaking root or something worse.inorder to have full root access on the FA19 bug fix release...someone would have to flash to that baseband/update root it install CWM and the capture the image for other people to flash with odin..odin is currently our only tool for rooting the prevail..so get comfortable with it read about it..something you will need to be very educated about..but its cake so dont worry.you can disable the update a few different ways...the best wat would be to flash one of the many ROMS in prevail all things root..but like i said do your research first and if you still need help reach out and you will get plenty of help...here are some links for you to check out

Even more shameless self-promotion!!!!
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...od-rooting-prevail-dummies-written-dummy.html

People have had different opinions about FA19, some have experienced poor reception, but it may be due to how the new firmware converts the signal strength into bars. The display shows less bars, but the actual signal strength is the same. I always have bad reception so I just use FA19 anyway

Even though the signal may converted differently, there is more that enough evidence from users here in the forum to prove that the FA19 update is defective and causes radio and 3g to worsen.

Pesronally, I've flashed the rooted version several times. When running EJ06, I have 2-3 bars with great 3g. When I flash the FA19 rooted version not only does my signal strength drop, I loose it and 3g completely for short but frequent periods.

I have helped many people with signal issues here in the Prevail section and 99.9% of them start having better results with their phone and 3g reception immediately after changing their baseband.

You would more than likely get better reception with EJ06. You may be getting a bad signal in your area but the FA19 modem you are running is probably making it worse. The experiences I've had with FA19 and the people I've helped with FA19 signal issues would point in that direction.;)

region may have something to do with it as well. i use the 'bug-fixed' fa19 while my wife uses ej06 and my signal and 3g are just as good and better at times. as always, mileage varies from user to user.

True.

It's gonna be interesting to see what the FA20 update is like. I bet they test it a little more thoroughly than they tested FA19. :D

There won't be an FA20

Shabby explained it to me, the update name is a date-code
the first character is a representation of the year, F=2012. I don't know if that means they started development on the prevail in 2007.

the 2nd letter is the month, A = January. We're a long way past that.

the number is the day of the month of the release, so:

FA19 was released to Boost/Sprint on January 19th 2012

I had read in a post earlier that a member had spoken with Samsung and they had told him to wait on the FA20 release. Maybe they just told him to wait on the next update and he just took for granted that it was gonna be FA20. Dunno

Trust me, one day i switched from EJ06 to FA19 and back a couple times, tried several different prls, and it never helped. I live at the top of a hill, which is the only reason i get ANY service, a half mile down the road and i'm disconnected.

Oh I believe ya. Sounds like you're just in one of the "dead zones". I live in desert like area and only have 1 tower which is a couple of miles away. FA19 killed what little signal that i did have. You may wanna change over to the 11119.PRL I noticed a change in dbm's for the better. Mine went from 91 to 86 and is holding pretty steady. That is a difference of 1 bar. It might not help ya but wouldn't hurt to try it.:)

I live in a brick house, my signal changes depending on what side of the room i'm sitting on. Today my signal is coming and going while the phone sits on my desk, probably bouncing signals off airplanes or something equally stupid

Ya I noticed that when you're really close to a cell tower it's almost as bad as not being near one.
Or having your microwave and HDTV interfere with the wifi signal from your router.
Stupid finicky technology

i agree...i live like 1/4 mile from the tower that my phone connects too..i am lucky to have 2 bars while i am at home..further away from home but of course within 4-5 miles and my signal is awsome....deffinetly strange how it works

it's an electrical phenomenon called clipping

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clipping_(signal_processing)

simply put, the signal is too strong and the amplifier attached to the antenna loses information because it's trying to output a level higher than the available viltage
