Help Best way to remove Factory Screen Shield?

So I bought my Motorola Triumph a few days ago and the factory-installed screen protector is garbage.
My previous phone was an Optimus V with a Zagg Invisible Shield screen protector. It didn't show any smudges, stains, fingerprints, etc.
I'm taking my Triumph to Best Buy tomorrow to have the Zagg shield installed front+back and I just need to know how to remove the current screen protector that came with the Triumph pre-installed without damaging the gorilla glass underneath.
Oh also, if there happens to be any sort of residue left after peeling off the shield, what's the best way to remove it?

Here's a video of someone taking it off.. So it might be able to help you through the process

I just spent about 20 minutes struggling to remove it with a pushpin, my fingernail and a tiny flathead screwdriver.

Then I went and got a razorblade and took it off in minutes.

I've never been a fan of cases or screen protectors (except for my iPod video, but those could practically be scratched by breathing on them), so I'm glad to have the protector off. I'll be using the device the way it was meant to be... naked.

I just went through with removing mine and I definitely see what all the hype is about! I used the push pin method and that worked like a charm. I can't tell if I made two tiny scratches near the corner where I was prying up the protector or if it is just residue, but it definitely went smoothly. I'm still debating on whether to get a Zagg protector from BB- any suggestions?

I used my finger nail and started at the bottom left side, came right off no problem, there was a little residue left, that came right off with some rubbing alcohol and a rag. Tried it out, and WOW!!! I wasn't having any problems before, but I figured what the heck, man did it make a difference, I then added an extreme guard protector on it, and it is a total different screen now. Too bad I have to send this one back because of GPS issues.

Well, I just bought the phone about a week ago. I'm debating if I should just leave the factory screen protector on or remove it. If I remove it, would it be best to put another type on? If so, what is the smoothest one available at this time? I'm paranoid about scratches.

Please let me know what others have done and if anyone has any links to any good accessory sites, it would be much appreciated.

Hey guys. I've been living under a rock. What is gorilla glass? Does it nick and scratch? I have two nicks in my factory screen protector and don't know If I should remove it.

Thanks!!

Novak

go ahead and remove it. the screen's clearer and it is more responsive. takes 20 seconds. :)
if you're really worried about scratches, get the zagg shield from best buy.

just came to this very useful thread
just bought a triumph and thought that the tabbed screen protector was actually not that bad
but decided to remove that and the original screen protector today
had trouble just using my nail, so used a pin like others on here and the edge came off easily
from there, just pulled it off
love the new feel of the screen

I have a few scratches on my MT screen. Could they be in the stock screen protector and removable or are these scratches perminant? I'd love it if I could peel them right off. How can I tell if the scratches are in my screen protector or in my actual screen?

Well if you bought your phone brand new and haven't removed the stock screen protector then I can almost guarantee that they are on the screen protector and not the actual screen. The only way to know for sure is to remove the stock screen protector.

Should I just try peeling off my screen? I don't want to ruin my screen completely. Is the stock screen protector that one that has a tag? Because I definitely took that off when I first got it. But its probably another one because everyone's talking about taking it off with guitar pics and blades.

EDIT: Would the stock screen protector go over the android buttons? Sorry for asking soo many questions but I don't want to break my phone.

yea there is another one underneath that one. You can use a razor blade or you can just try using your nail. There should be a ledge type of thing where the screen protector is a bit taller than the screen and just start peeling from there. The screen is Gorilla Glass so it's pretty hard to scratch it.

Yes the stock screen protector goes over the capacitive buttons. And don't worry about asking too many questions :).

There is a second layer adhered on. I was able to get it off starting it with a fingernail, but being female I tend to wear my nails longer than the gentlemen in the forum do :).

See this post for info and links, including to a YouTube video showing the removal.
