Root Clockwork Theme Installation Aborted

Hello, im looking for advice. By searching on Youtube "tron legacy galaxy theme" you can find a video displaying a theme I am trying to install. I downloaded the theme on mediafire and made it a .zip file which is now on a sd card in my phone. I already rooted my phone (it is a Motorola DROID 3) and downloaded bootstrap. I renamed the theme as update.zip and rebooted my phone via bootstrap. From there, I try installing update.zip, but everytime it says installation aborted. Can someone help?

Thanks

Also its important to know How to zip it some use Compression Levels others use Storage. If its an Update.zip I think its Storage however it's been a while since I've flashed with Hboot. I use recovery a majority of the time nor do I have to zip them as they are already zipped for me.

If its not for your particular phone then the only thing you can do besides find that theme for you platform would be to see if you can extract the images out of the one you have and install them into a ROM and then Flash that ROM. Really need to talk with the Guru's for your phone. They can give much better advice than we can.

Since I have the Droid 3 and it is being used on the Samsung Galaxy, does that mean it won't work on my phone?

Read my last post. It must be for your specific android version, custom rom AND phone model. It is specific and must MATCH ALL these criteria. The galaxy theme is not just wrong once, its probably wrong on all three counts.

Put it this way. If you have a theme for Droid 3 android 2.3.6 it will not even work on Droid 3 android 2.3.7.

Oh alright, I get it. Is there any way to edit the ROM or something to make it accessible for my Droid 3?

Themes CAN be ported but its not necessarily an easy feat.

Essentially for vanilla android (no manufacturer UI like HTC sense, touchwiz, timescape etc) themes are /system/app/SystemUI apk and /system/framework/framework-res.apk

These are Rom components and are present in every GB android version onwards. These are what are Rom specific as its not just the images in there, it also references parts of code in the overall framework which was created for your specific phone. Replacing these files will prevent your phone from booting.

If its literally just images, you can open the framework-res from the theme and the Rom side-by-side and swap images. Same for sustemui. But if the theme includes elements that act differently, such as position changes, different dimensions etc, these are more than images and is a more advanced process.

But, you have a touchwiz theme (samsung UI) so I.doubt that can be ported to a phone without touchwiz. I bet the zip has more than the 2 files I previously mentioned. Your best bet would be an experienced themer with your device and ask for assistance. Still think its a long shot though

Welcome to the forums! :)

Unless you're a theme or rom developer with skills like SUroot has, the answer is no.

Things have to match to install.

Can't change the hood ornament on your car to one from a different brand and then use different engine parts, no matter how many ways you ask. :) ;)

Moved your question to the root forum for the D3, maybe someone here knows of another theme you'd like.

BTW - tinkering like that with mismatched stuff can lead to a bricked phone. Just saying...

Icon Tron.rar
That's the link to the download. If you can help me to get this theme, please explain! I'm dying for it! :shakehands:

From what I can see in there... It's not flashable because A) it's a .rar and not .zip B) it doesn't have a META-INF folder specific for our phone C) it's simply just image files and not actually a skinned launcher or .apk's, except for that clock widget, which you could probably just drop onto your SD card and install.

If by iPhone theme, you mean MIUI, there is a ROM available over on DroidHive, but it's an ICS build with the assumed issues, although, they have been tossing around the idea of an MIUI GB based ROM.

If you want an iPhone look, you can probably get a different launcher like GO Launcher or something and they have their own downloadable themes. Browse on the market for launchers and themes. Also, you can look into neon/glow launcher themes that should be similar to the Tron one.
