SiyahKernel v3.2b5
Posted on May 1, 2012
Changelog:
fixed some BLN problems
CM9 ROMs: lights will stay off after BLN if you disabled lights, stay on if you have them enabled.
if you set lights timeout, lights will turn on when you touch keypad or screen and turn off again after the timeout (just as in Samsung ROMs)
removed breathing setting and added bln_effect setting. available options are “steady”, “breathing” and “blinking”.
added breathing_start (mV), breathing_end (mV), breathing_period (ms), breathing_step (mV) interfaces to notification miscdevice. further customizations are possible by modifying those such as faster blinking or less brighter breathing.
touchscreen sensitivity is changed again
testing old GB hotplug (thanks to Entropy512 for porting it)
added touchpad led brightness level control to BLN tab in ExTweaks
Guys, i have just installed AndyX v12 on my S2 and had a couple of questions.
Im trying to see if i prefer AndyX as opposed to Checkrom Revo HD6 which i have been running for a few weeks now and has been pretty solid.
However, i love messing with my stuff and was wondering if i should also install Siyah on top of AndyX.
The ony thing i have noticed so far is some major lag in scrolling on AndyX when running the Cosmic Flow live wallpaper. Now it has only been on a couple of hours, so it's early days yet.

You can install Siyah v3.x.x on AndyX no problems. Siyah 3.x.x is ICS whilst Siyah 2.x.x is GB. And ICS in general has those scrolling issues, not just AndyX I'm afraid.

Sorry I'm just clarifying here, but you said prefer it to AndyX? Siyah is a kernel, whereas AndyX is a rom. AndyX comes with its own Modem, Kernel and Firmware, so Siyah essentially overwrites AndyX's Kernel, not AndyX itself. So you won't physically see much difference once Siyah is flashed.
Tried to find that name on his page for Siyah, could not find it. Neither her on the board. Sorry! I know!! If he is the ONE, we NEED HIM to keep up the good work! What a man
added format SecondROM system, data and cache partitions.
enabled kernel panic timeout
nandroid backup of SecondROM
nandroid restore to SecondROM (kernel will not be restored if you restore to SecondROM). restoring data partition will take long because formatting a loop mounted image file takes long.
fixed wifi
I am not sure if this is good or bad, but service center will replace my LCD with a new one on monday and it will only take several hours. they even let me continue to use my phone and they ordered the part.
it seems that I will keep the phone for a while
s3 is good. looks lovely and I expect that the battery improvement will be very big.. but s2->s3 is not a big change as in s->s2.
really sorry about this noob question guys, i have a samsung galaxy s2 running andyx v12 rom, i am using the kernal that just got installed with that up to now.
i am pretty new to roms and and has only just been recently i started using them, i have never flashed a kernal but from the looks of this siyah kernal it looks worth it.
can i ask:
if i download the zip version can i just go into CWM and go to flash kernal and select the file? will it just update the kernal and thats it, or will i loose any apps / data etc?
or with kernals is it just as simple as updating it and you dont have to do anything else apart from enjoy it?
anyway sorry about the basic questions i just want to know what to expect before i try.

Prior to flashing the new kernel it might be advisable to run the GS2Wiper script (found here) in case AndyX uses its own kernel-specific config files.
thanks for the info slug, i have downloaded the files just not done it yet, i noticed that early today a newer version of siyah is out already, looking on the site where you download siyah, a new one seems to come out every few days lol
if i am not that interested inover / under clocking, is it worth me moving to the siyah kernel? ive tried to search around but i cant find a great deal on what advantages it has apart from the obvious being able to control voltage etc..
does putting siyah on my phone general make it a bit more solid compared to the stock kernel, or what ever andyx uses in his rom?
or will i see no difference at all unless i want to change them voltage settings / cpu speed?
Only if you explicitly allow them, apparantly. I've just flashed b8 over b7 and it honoured my existing ExTweak settings completely i.e. 5-step + 1400MHz.
