hey all, battery life on my attain is pretty horrendous. after charging up to 100%, i'm down to 20% after 12 hours. my atrix battery lasts at least 3 times longer. i've uninstalled most of the bloatware from my attain, but it hasn't really improved. when i look at battery usage, display is usually about 45% of it, even though the screen is off for the majority of those 12 hours. i will post up screenshots later.

is anyone else having a similar experience?

Well there was a claim on another thread that someone turned 4g off and the battery lasted a day and had ~65% remaining.

I personally dont mind the battery life. If it came down to it, I'd go for a physical solution (double batterys or portable chargers). At least until a refined power plan emerges. I know the esteem gas a few...lucky bastards...lol

here's a couple screenshots, and a dump from BetterBatteryStats. this is after disabling a lot of the wakelock activity that was going on with latitude, which brought down the "awake" time by a lot.

there was a good amount of netflix usage at the beginning, you can see the steep drop off during that time, and the device being active during that same time.

i have the wifi sleep policy set to never, based on what i've heard that wifi uses less battery than mobile data. i'm going to run another test with the wifi sleep policy set to only when the screen is on. after that test, i'll give that greenpower app a try.

is anybody getting better battery life than what i posted above?

Yea, I'm getting insanely better battery life than you are. I'm the one that made the claim about turning 4g off, and I stand by it.

When I leave 4g on all day, my battery gets raped. When I turn it off when I don't use it, my battery hardly drops at all. Unplugged my phone at 6am, its 10:42 pm. I've only turned 4g on when I'm using it. Watched some YouTube, browsed, tapatalk etc., I'm at 69%.

I just posted some screens from speed tests I did tonight, shows the time and battery remaining. I did 13 speed tests on 4g.

Hate to break it to ya bro, 4g really is the culprit :(

but if the device is on wifi the whole time, how is the 4G even getting used? unless its sending or receiving MMS, its not even using data when its on wifi.

before you disabled 4G, you were getting similar battery life?

i read a review that timed it at 9 hours with moderate use. starting to think 13-15 hours isn't so bad...

Try Juice defender. if you get plus (i think its $1.99) you can have it control WiFi automatically as well as automatically toggling your 4g, using your wifi based on location, so it remembers where your hotspots are and turns it on and off for you as you teach it your locations. (gets more accurate with time) you could try turning down your brightness, screen time out, auto rotation, and turning off animations. all these things use battery.

I found with juice defender I get about 30% more battery then stock. also because of the root I just did, im using CPU master to slow down my processor to 800mhz this really boosted my battery life too.

I hope this helps!!

Yeah, when I used to just leave 4g on all day, my battery life was similar to yours. However, if you are on wifi all day, you are right. The 4g shouldn't be active, that's a bit odd.

it is most definitely the 4g, 4g is constantly sending data back and forth, to what im not sure but i do know it is(even 1x is sending data) using Any Cut, juice defender and using set cpu or cpu master will give you a substanial boost in battery life. Normally display takes up an average of 71% of battery, now with doing what i said, it took that down to a small 28%

Yeah 4g is a data/battery hog. However using anycut to turn off 4g is sufficient to save battery life. Juice defender and underclocking is overkill IMO. Unplugged since 6 am.15 hours later I'm at 75 %, just by turning off 4g when I don't need it. :D

lol When i underclocked to 800mhz, i litterally do not see a significant difference in speed, battery of course. and Juice defender helps alot out, espically if you like me, whos on my phone pretty much from when i wake up to when i go to bed

I'm always on mine also, and like I said I get stellar battery life. I just don't think underclocking and JD is necessary. To each his own though.

well, i made sure to turn off 4G. that, plus Greenpower premium, and i'm still at about 50% charge after 20 hours or so. very good, but very strange.:hmmmm:

your wifi theory makes sense but if your wifi service is constantly searching to maintain that connection, it will be using up your battery. my wifi isnt very constant on my indulge and i dont see much improvement in batterry when leaving wifi on while at home.

So juice defender was constantly giving me a hard time and not relly helping and have since disabled it... Im sticking to my underclock though because Im also using V6 supercharger and my phone is still tremendously fast. I couldn't figure out how to toggle my 4g with anycut till yesterday morning... haven't charged since and I'm still at 25% thanks alot chiwen!

how can you turn off 4g when you dont wana use it

How I do it.

Get a new launcher (I use launcher pro)
long press the home screen and select "shortcuts"
Select "activities"
First "lte functionality test"

Open the new shortcut and select turn off.

To turn it back on select turn on and then volte settings. It will force close but don't worry. Wait two minutes for full 4g to come back on.

Toke, a couple of questions..

1) Do you use "Launcher Pro" and make it your default?- I downloaded "LP" but I am afraid to make it my default cause I could not figure out how to add the the Samsung Program Monitor widget.

2) Do you know all or some of the settings of the LTE Functionality Test and what they do?" Mainly, I am more interested in "Attach" and "Detach" cause one time when I was scrolling through all of the options...I accidentally hit "detach" which kinda scared me and I thought "detach" does not seem like something good so I immediately hit "attach" but I don't know either one was on...now I don't know if that was wrong or right but now I find that sometimes overnight my 4G has gone to EV and when I try to turn off or on, it does nothing. It does not turn off at all, it just stays on the EV. I remember before it used to turn off and on the 4G. NOW, I have to reboot the whole phone to turn the 4G back on...

Thanks in advance for any help, guys...:)
