Ok I've been trying to flash a new kernel and the only one I can get to work is the anthrax kernel but I cant overclock with it. with any other kernel, freedom, lionfish, etc. the just hang on the home screen wallpaper empty no apps or clock. Now I've heard of issues with HW 004 and read Mik's kernel pages but any suggestions? thanks!

moved you to the rooting section. more folks here can help you out.

well one thing i would do is switch your recovery to amon ra 2.3. it is a much better recovery then clockwork mod. plus you can flash more file with amon ra then cwm. cwm uses a script called edify while most flashable files uses amend scripting. what is cool is that amon ra has support for both types of scripts. the only clockwork mod version that has support for it is cwm 2.6.

you can get instructions on how to switch recoveries in this guide:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. head on over to the after root section and find the switching recovery section for instructions.

and what are you wiping when you flash a kernel? you only need to wipe dalvik cache and cache to flash a kernel.

and i believe you should be able to overclock on anthrax. how high can you go? what is not allowing you to overclock it?

well I had setcpu b4 I flashed the anthrax kernel and it went up to 1152 but I removed setcpu to delete the profiles and after i reinstalled that it wouldnt go above 998.

and what are you wiping when you flash a kernel? you only need to wipe dalvik cache and cache to flash a kernel. doing this....

go into setcpu and then menu>device selection>continue recommended>and then select ok. it should now ask the superuser for permission for root access and it should then be allowed. once allowed you can then overclock your phone.

ok so I got rid of clockwork thx! amon works so much better I can flash any kernel I want now so i went into setcpu and cranked up the OC to 1266 on both and it locked up LOL so i did nand restore and then reinastalled the freedom kernel im all good now thx!

Your evo can only be pushed so far. Make sure not to check "set on boot" until you figure what your highest stable speed is. Mine is 1190. And I don't bother setting it that high because it's not necessary for what I use my phone for anyway.

So I updated my Kernel 4.67.651.3 PRI to 2.33_003 PRL 60686 but my baseband is still 2.15.12.19 (mikg 3.11) and now I'm having random issues plus my wstermark is back. last time I had to go to froyo and downgrade everything to get rid of watermark then change back to gb do I have to do that all again?

so you wiped dalvik cache, cache and then did a nand backup and then flash the zip file, correct?

do you have a link to the kernel? because the info you provided looks to be of a 4.67 rom.

and curious on the watermark. what does it say? what is your hboot now?

ok the link you gave is for a rom and not a kernel.

and that is very odd with the watermark. do you still have the PC36IMG file on your card? what exactly did you do before this happened?

the kernel came with the rom....

ok i understand that, but you mentioned that you updated your kernel, so i guess that i'm a little confused.

what rom were you on before? and prior to mikg what did you do?

i have never heard of having the "unlocked" with an hboot 2.10 before. you have s-off that is the main thing. i would not really worry about it. you are still fully rooted.

but if you want to get rid of it then maybe try and run the 3.70 ruu that you used earlier when rooting. you will need to install a custom recovery afterwards.
