I've been a premium member at DSLReports for at least 5 years. You get tool tips. In 5 years I haven't figured out what a tool tip is. I didn't mind the fee.

I think the OP was asking WHY you should become a premium member.

If you want you can just pay I think $5 or $10 month for a premium membership. Every bit counts towards making AF even better! And it helps pay the bills too.
It's not just getting inside the VIP area, but it's also the fact that you get to have a bigger avatar 150+150 MP, custom user title, gold premium badge, post images in your signature, and a sense of awesomeness!

Honestly, I did it during the Pre-release of the Nexus since I found myself practically living here (and consequently, pissing off my wife ).
I think of it the same way that you donate to Developers, or upgrade apps simply to support them. AF provides a wonderful place for folks to talk about their obsession of Android. Fortunately, I'm fine financially so $40 a year isn't a huge hit to my wallet. But for those who can't or don't want to, I have no problem. Looks like the OP really enjoys being here given his post count, and that's really all that matters.
BTW, the VIP section is really chill. Pretty much just off-topic talk that you can simply do in the Lounge anyway.
