Hey there

I was wondering if someone could help please. I am trying to download photos from my Samsung Galaxy s2 to my Mac but with no luck. I have downloaded Kies and when I connect to my phone and try and download the photos it says I have to download Java.

I have done this but it still doesn't work. I am unsure what I am doing wrong.

Also, if I try and connect my phone via USB (in Kies) it is not recognised as a device.

I am not technical at all and have spent hours trying to resolve this. Is there an easy way to get the photos off my phone and onto my Mac?

I believe I have followed all the instructions from the computer/phone but it still won't work. I have also contacted my phone provider and Samsung and they cannot help. Surely there is a way???

If someone could help either download the photos or get the USB connection to work in Kies it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much guys.

If you have a wifi connection on your mac then you can install wifi file explorer on your s2,it's available for free on google play once you install on the phone and run the program it connects to your wifi connection and gives you an address that you type in your web browser after you enter the address then hit enter the s2 folders will be listed in the browser window, the one that you're looking for is called DCIM click on this to open the folder and then click on the folder called CAMERA and you will see a list of your photos, just click on each one and the program will ask you where you want to save the photos to on your mac just be patient though as it sometimes takes a little while to connect to your wifi signal.
Here is the link to the program;

Don't need Kies to use the USB mass storage connection.

Go to Settings/Wireless & Network/USB Utilities

Tap on the icon for connection. THEN only connect the USB cable. Tap on the icon and follow on screen instruction. The phone memory will not act like a thumbdrive (mass storage) device, and like any thumbdrive, you can browse, move, copy, cut, paste... files and folders... etc.

Cheers

Hey there

I managed to download the app with success and it gave me a URL to enter into my MAC however when I do it says that it doesn't exist... not sure what is going on. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to be a pain but I am desperate to download these photos.

Kind regards

Hi
I could not make Kies work nor could I make Android Transfer files work. Just wasn't recognising it.

Instead try the following: [worked for me]
1. On your mobile, go into Settings--> Wireless network--> USB utilities
2. select 'connect storage to PC'

3. Connect cable from Samsung to Mac

The Samsung files should then come up on Mac and you can transfer photos from 'camera' folder manually.

Hope it helps
