Root V5 Beta Stock Nandroid

Ok, I've had a few days to test it out and have not found anything that I would call worry some with the V5 update, so here it is. I took the V4 to V5 update that I posted the other week and applied it on top of the V4 stock Nandroid I've also posted. This will give you a stock V5 Beta experience. I say Beta as Verizon has not officially posted V5 yet. There is also a small glitch where the phone will say it's still on V4 even thou it's android 2.3.6. I've also removed the script that would overwrite CWM Recovery on boot.

Who would want this:
Someone that is still running stock, but wants to try out the next upgrade
Someone that doesn't like V4, but doesn't like the current status of BrokenOut
Someone that just wants to play around

I give no warranty if you use this. Always do a Nandroid backup before going to another version.

Steps:

Grab this file : http://androidfiles.massivefilehost.com/v5_beta_stock/v5_beta_stock.zip

Extract the zip in the same way you would extract the V4 stock nandroid zip.

Make a backup of all your program data (titanium backup, rom toolbox, etc)

Now boot into recovery.

Make one final nandroid backup if you are so inclined.

Now at the root menu of CWM Recovery choose wipe data/factory reset , then yes.

Then go into advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache -> yes
and also advanced -> Wipe Battery Stats -> yes

Now go into backup and restore -> restore -> v5_beta_stock

Let it do it's magic, then reboot your phone and restore all your program data using what ever you used to back it up.

NOTE: If you are currently on V4 stock, and I mean pure V4 stock, you could use an advance restore and restore just boot and system. This would allow you to keep all your data intact. I do not know what issues this may cause for you and I highly recommend you do a fresh start, but the option is out there.

Thanks for the work man! My Droid 4 was running 2.3.6 and it seemed to run smoother and faster in terms of the browser, and especially the auto rotate option. So I am currently running stock(rooted)2.3.5 with some of the bloatware frozen. If I attempt to restore V5 over v4 do you think/suggest I should unfreeze them first? Also on an unrelated note do you mind if I PM you about something? Thanks again

I downloaded this file to my phone and when I try to extract it, I get options for which format to extract it in.
If I move it to my PC and use 7-Zip to extract it then move the extracted folder to the Clockwork folder and run the wipes and restore the nandroid it should work?

Hopefully, if not I have the nandroid I just made.

Guys this is only a system and framework update. It does not update the radio, or kernel. The baseband is still zv4, when the update is released, it will still try to update but will fail because cwm has an improper md5 checksum since it is not stock. This does have full system from zv5 though.
